Came here to celebrate Fathers Day as we were on a weekend getaway from out of state. We walked in through the bar as I was not aware there was another entrance, no sign and again I'm from out of state. The bartender and another employee just starred at us no hi welcome in how can we help. After a few minutes they asked if we were ok and we told them we had a reservation and they proceeded to say the entrance was on the other side but we could go through bar. Sat down then noticed another family sat down after us and they were provided children coloring pages. I asked for mine from a girl just wandering around and she said ok never came back, I then asked our server for the kids coloring pages. The food was DELICIOUS but the service was awful. It was our server's first day according the guy who is the host or manager not sure what he was. As a server you should know your menu or at least have someone shadow you since it is your first day. I repeated my order twice even pointed to the items on the menu I wanted. Somehow my order was taken wrong. I ordered an appetizer but got something else because he heard me wrong(go figure) I ordered a birria pizza and the server put down Branzino, they brought it to the table and we let the busser know we didn't order that. Once we got most of our food, I asked our server for status on our birria pizza, he said what you didn't order that I thought you said Branzino but I can put in the order now. I stated no that's ok just remove it. Once the check comes I was being charged for additional items. I let the host know, he removed some things, then I found an additional charge and that's when he seemed bothered and called the server over to remove the items from the bill. The host thought that by sending over churros on the house he fixed my experience, he didn't seem to care much. I would order food to go from here but NEVER again dine in. They need to take a course on customer service because no one there had any good...
Read moreThis was our first time here. The food was good. There was stuff floating around in our water, but that’s not the reason why I’m making this review. It’s because I’m feeling so bad for the table next to us because of what happened to them. Their server dumped not one drink, but a whole tray of drinks on this woman’s head at their table. Waters and alcoholic drinks. She was completely drenched, soaked, literally baptized… I was appalled I’ve never seen anything like this in my life. I understand accidents happen, but how they handled this was terrible service and I won’t be returning here. They are lucky the glass didn’t break on her or hit her in the head or that she didn’t get alcohol in her eyes!! The woman’s boyfriend was furious and said they will not pay for anything and the server and owner were actually arguing(negotiating) with them like they will take some items off the bill, or paying for “laundry”, but not everything. One table comped for this monstrosity is nothing for their reputation and the kindness of actually showing their remorse to these people for what happened at their business. At least just paying for the couple affected should have been an ABSOLUTE GIVEN! The other couple at their table even said we’ll pay for ours, just cover theirs. Like it was completely awful the lady was so nice about it & the boyfriend was rightfully very upset. The server came back to the table and reintroduced himself like nothing happened & just brought more water. They should’ve told that server to go home take the night off and given them a new server & been way more apologetic to them & willing to comp their meals. I’m surprised they didn’t get up and leave. Who wants to support greedy business owners who hire clumsy servers and don’t care about the well being of their...
Read moreMy fiancé and I recently visited Puntamar in Encinitas for a date night after spotting them on Instagram, and we were thoroughly impressed.
From the moment we arrived, the atmosphere, food, and service exceeded our expectations. Our waiter, Zaul, was exceptional—personable, knowledgeable, and attentive. He guided us through the menu with great suggestions and went above and beyond to ensure we had a memorable experience.
We started with the Machu Picchus Ceviche and the Verde Aguachilles, both of which were outstanding. The fish was incredibly fresh, and the flavors were simply unbelievable. The presentation was picturesque and added to the overall experience.
We also had the Flan The flavor was rich and balanced, perfectly sweet without being overwhelming.
We also had the pleasure of meeting the owner, Alejandro, who was a delight to talk to.
Puntamar offers late-night dining and boasts an impressive drink menu, making it a perfect spot for any occasion.
If you’re looking for great food, excellent service, and a fun atmosphere, Puntamar is a must-visit. It’s definitely going to be a regular dining spot for us...
