I WRECKED. 😅😅 I was joy-racing my boyfriend down 78 on the back side of Julian towards Anza-Borrego and didn’t feather my brakes enough. Locked out, banged down, bounced to the other side of the bike and slid. The left drop took a lot of the impact and was completely bent. So did my wheel. Helmet was cracked through, wheel needed to be trued, and handle bars needed to be re-taped.
All in all, myself and my bike were very lucky.
My father is a big rider and is the one who got me into this sport. He told me to bring my bike into RIDE a few months ago to have my headset worked on (I will have them do this next)! I was putting this work off, but when I crashed, I knew I could trust my fathers recommend on a solid shop.
I brought my bike into RIDE.
Quick service, and the bike looks as if I never crashed. I couldn’t believe they were able to straighten out my left drop too! Thank you, Josh! I know this was a project and I really value the attention to detail. Definitely can feel improvements to my ride, the brakes feel great.
An extremely humble, yet talented bike shop. With incredibly friendly and peaceful vibes.
Will service here again and again.
This sport brings me so much joy and I’m grateful to have RIDE supporting our cycling...
Read moreThis is my local shop and I have been here several times over the last few years. The customer service is very good and it is a friendly shop. If anyone asked, I would have recommended them. The other day they took it to the next level to make me write a post.
I was replacing my brake pads and bleeding my hydraulic brakes for the first time. I had bought a bleed kit from Amazon and have a lot of tools, so I thought I was ready to go. It turns out, the bleed kit for Shimano brakes also needs an extender that didn't come with my kit (road vs. mountain or newer version, I am not sure). I also didn't have a 7mm wrench. So back to Amazon - $7 (Park) wrench + $2 extender, delivery in 1 to 2 weeks. So I go to the shop and they have the wrench for $6. The funnel extender is not a part for sale, but they come with some new bikes and they have a few on hand. So they give me one.
I have gotten good advice on everything I have asked about from tires to repairs, shoes and nutrition. They don't all know everything, but they are not afraid to say they don't know and they ask around the shop for the person...
Read moreI was recently in Encinitas for a few days. I didn't feel like bringing my bike with me, and a friend in the industry recommended RIDE Cyclery as a good place to rent a road bike.
They set me up with a carbon fiber Cannondale with Shimano 105 — it was my first time in awhile riding a carbon bike.
The staff was kind enough to set me up with necessities like a tube and Co2 inflator. They also took extra time to dial in the fit (best to do that with a torque wrench handy, especially with carbon frames and seatposts).
They really went the extra mile because I thought I'd brought my own pedals. As it turned out, I took them off my bike back home, but forgot to pack them! The RIDE guys just happened to have a sweet of the same kind I use. They really bailed me out!
They also recommended some routes, as did a few customers hanging out.
Rental was $80 for 24 hours.
A very good rental/shop experience. I'll rent from them next...
