After spending the day at the beach in Encinitas, I had dinner with a friend and wanted to have something sweet; so we decided to go to Gelato 101.
Gelato 101 is definitely one of the best gelato spots I've ever been to. It is definitely a lovely gem within Encinitas.
This cute establishment can be found conveniently on S Coast Hwy, right off the street.
I love their bold and bright neon sign that proudly proclaims their brand-name at night.
Although there is a small parking lot on the side of the building, it is still sometimes difficult to find street parking within close distance, when it is crowded. We ended up parking about three blocks away.
There is a nice patio for outdoor seating and there's also a few seating spaces within their cozy interior. But overall, the interior seating is very limited, which is a shame, because the decoration is very homey & inviting.
The staff was very friendly & patient with our inquiries, and the service was excellent. Although, if you come during a popular time, expect to spend a rate in life that will go out the door.
I ordered a Muscle Man smoothie and it was perfect! The flavor was exactly what I hoped it would be and it was also very healthy.
Their peanut butter açai bowl was also very delicious and I loved how they blended the flavors together.
Overall, I really enjoyed my experience at Gelato 101 and I will definitely be...
Read moreMy husband and I drove 2 hours to visit San Diego/ Encinitas and was excited to try this gelato place and as we enter we aren't even greeted. There was a group of girls and one guy standing there talking amongst themselves. When we asked for samples to try the different flavors as this was our first time here he looked at us like we were dumb. He gave us the samples we asked for with the tiniest spec to barely get a taste. We asked for our flavors he didn't ask us which size we'd prefer just grabbed the smallest cup and we asked for a topping on one of the ice creams which was peanut butter and he made this weird face like it wasn't normal and began laughing with the girl behind him and she made a weird face too but became quiet when I said out loud I don't know what's so funny about peanut butter on an ice cream? Extremely rude, and unprofessional. The ice cream itself was good, but I won't be returning due to the disgusting behavior of the employees. I guess you have to be white to get good...
Read moreI was so surprised that there was a new Gelato place in SB :) such a cute store with ammmazing flavors, good prices, quality ingredients, and friendly staff. They told me that the gelato is even house made ( they have an on-site chef!!!) and ordered by many local restaurants:) The beautiful display case is also easy to navigate for individuals, like myself, with dietary sensitivities. I am gluten free and egg free and often have to settle with vegan flavors at ice cream places - which are not always as satisfying when you are craving something creamy and non-fruit flavored. At Gelato 101 the flavors are clearly labeled if they contain Gluten (G) or Eggs (E) or are vegan (V). And I have to say the vegan flavors here fully pass all the tests- texture and taste are 10/10! Really excited to have this new spot to take the family and meet friends for an indulgent healthy treat, and keep exploring the yummy flavors that the chef...
