Oof. I was excited to see a Hibachi place open in Ennis. The food was so mediocre. I ordered take out and upon arrival to my house one of the clear soup cups had caved in because they topped it with another soup cup, two cups of fried rice and a cup of noodles. It had spilled entirely through the bag. Upon further inspection the noodle cup had also been punctured and plastic was in the noodles. Whatever, things happen.
So then we got it all out. I ordered a side of ginger sauce for my hibachi chicken and steak, instead of the dipping sauce I'm used to they gave me an extra cup of salad dressing, which is also ginger sauce so I guess I get the mix up, but it needs to be clearer on online ordering. The veggies were swimming in sauce. Like so much sauce. It was good sauce, but I'd prefer the veggies sauceless.
Then we got to the meat. At first the portion sizes were appealing but ultimately it was horrible. I'm not sure if they grilled it alongside salmon or shrimps but it was totally infected with a fishy taste. The chicken and steak itself had a low quality texture and I couldn't eat more than a few bites without tasting shrimp. It was horrrrrrible.
The lo mein and fried rice sides were good, but the portion sizes in comparison to how much veggies and meat there was, was baffling. The best part of the meal was the ginger salad and the veggies.
Overall I'd skip this place entirely for hibachi. We spent over seventy dollars and we're severely disappointed. That's way too much money in this economy.
Hopefully their sushi is...
Read moreWe really liked that they have Kirin and Sapporo on tap. The beer was great. The servers were fast.
The sushi was bland and we did not enjoy it at all. We ordered the Spicy Tuna Roll. We asked after eating a couple ofnpieces if this was actually the Spicy Tuna Roll. The server said they make it that way with no spice and she offered Spicy Mayo or Sirracha. They do this to prevent people who don't like spice wanting money back. Except I would have liked my money back for bland sushi.
Then the Hibachi came out. It was in a pool of liquid. Very unappitizing, they need to understand that you eat with your eyes first. There was little flavor and the vegetables were bland and unappealing. We ordered a medium rare filet and it was overcooked and well done. We asked the server about the vegetables and the liquid, we had already come to the conclusion they were steamed instead of cooked on the hibachi grill. She confirmed that and said they are too hard if cooked on the hibachi. Seems odd, I have eaten Hibachi for many years and never had hard vegetables. And I showed her my overcooked steak and she apologized. But the manager was not there. She did make a small adjustment to the check, which was appreciated.
But as far as the food, it is way to Americanized to fit maybe old people's pallet. They said it was so food isn't sent back, yet the noodles we had instead of rice, had some spice and were the best thing on the table. Sadly we will not be back. Was hoping for a great Hibachi...
Read moreA group of us (5 girls) went Saturday night and OMG it was sooo good! Heaven was our server and our cups were never empty and that is huge to me! A few of the girls were newer to sushi and had questions and she answered them and made great suggestions, I’ve been to plenty of sushi restaurants and the servers just have no clue and or don’t really care to help you have a good experience! I am a sushi connoisseur so I told her I would like the chef to make me something different, I do not care for cucumber or salmon…Hans made me a beautiful roll that tasted sooo good! I did share it with the girls and everyone thought it was delicious! If you go don’t hesitate to ask or say you don’t like something and let the chef do his magic! We will all be back! So glad to have this...
