Update 4/6/18
Got an email from Lisa, the general manager of this location. She explained that this was a misunderstanding and offered to send a gift card for a free pizza. While the original situation was mishandled, you can't ask for more than to have management fix the issue when they become aware of it. I really appreciate the way may concern was resolved. Changing from 1 to 5 stars.
Original Review 3/23/18
Stopped by to use a coupon for a free birthday pizza. Server was fantastic. When the check came, which should have been $0 since all I had was the "free" pizza and a water, things got weird. The bill was $2 plus tax. The pizza was $21, and the coupon specifically stated "good for a free 18" pizza with one topping, up to $22." Looking at the check, it quickly became apparent that only a $19 coupon was applied rather than the $22 the coupon stated. I was sure this was just a typo, so I spoke with the manager, and she said, "No, the bill is right, that's just how we do things at the Las Vegas locations."
I replied, "But the coupon specifically states 'Up to $22.'"
She replied, "No, that's not how we do things in Las Vegas."
Wow, it's tough to argue with such persuasive logic.
However, her statement is also false, as I've used birthday coupons before at this very location, as well as at the Venetian and Fashion Show mall locations before without issue.
It's not that $2 is going to ruin anyone's day, but if you're going to refuse to honor coupons as written, you should probably have your servers inform customers of that fact up front so there are no rude surprises later (I handed the server the coupon before placing the order, after all). The sad thing is that it didn't cost me extra. As I said earlier my server was excellent, so instead of getting the $5 tip I intended to leave on my "free" pizza, she got what was left of the $5 after the bogus $2.17 charge. She was very apologetic upon bringing me the check, and I could tell the "policy" had never been explained to her either.
I'll probably shoot an email to Grimaldi's corporate to let them know at least one of their managers has gone rogue:) If you visit the Grimaldi's on Eastern Avenue, enjoy your $2.17 "free" birthday pizza, and tell them...
Read moreMy family and I went there yesterday....The food was great ! HOWEVER the server was terrible, dark haired tall gentlemen ( Alex I think?) he reached across the table from one corner of the table to the other across my wife's plate twice with his hairy arm directly over her plate TWICE!! then brought use plates with his hands all over them ...it was a long wait and I was incredibly angered by the whole experience at this point. Then out of the blue a lovely blonde woman comes to our table to refill drinks , she was on the other side of the table from me and I asked for another drink . She very politely says she will come back mine as there are many new rules for (covid) then she says like handling food, plates, and reaching across the table .... in that one vist to our table she addressed everything our waiter did wrong so far! The blonde lady was Katie and she was very nice and did not once offend our table or act like we were inconveniencing her , very polite! There was also another dark haired lady the came to take plates and was also very kind . In the end one last problem I had $10 for the tip and by this point I was just so mad about the waiter I left $3 on the table to which he said and I quote "wow" as I was 2ft away from him.. and gave the rest to Katie on my way out... I will almost certainly not go back because of him and the treatment! I couldn't imagine having a job where tips make your day and acting that way and expecting me to give you a full tip... I only left the $3 on the table because my wife gave me a look , I would have rather given it...
Read moreIf you come to this Grimaldi’s location, expect unprofessional staff, a dingy run down interior, laden with signs desperately trying to make money off you in any way, and a burnt pizza due to their immature, almost vengeful cooks.
Came for a birthday dinner, left with crying 14 year old Cooks sent out blackened, burnt pizza, after we told our waitress and were told we’d get another, we were then sent out another almost raw pizza. The kitchen had seemingly taken issue with our complaints and sent out an almost raw pizza in an act of vengeance. All the while they openly snickered and stared at 15 year old girl who they deemed a “problem”, leading to her crying during her birthday dinner.
When I left to go to the bathroom, the cooks could even be heard laughing and loudly swearing to each other through the bathroom walls, which were dirty and in disrepair.
They then combined 2 separate checks into one. The district manager that was there at the time seemed very concerned and understanding, but the utter immaturity that is needed for a line crew to openly mock guests is appalling, and after calling and speaking to their front of house manager, who also was laughing at the situation, it seems that the employees running this location are truly not up to snuff.
I have spent probably over $1400 at grimaldis over the past 10 years, but no more after today. That was the worst experience I’ve ever had in a restaurant, if anyone from management reads this, your cooks and servers need to be better. What I saw today was...
