The atmosphere of the place is great, good looking bar. Probably would've been a much better experience at the bar than at a table. If you're looking for good Mexican/Latin food this is NOT the place, it's just another generic Latin "cuisine" place. The food was at best mediocre the best part about it was the Chile chip salsa. Aside from that the food was not great the steak was overcooked to the point of being rubbery along with the chicken. The shrimp was cooked right at least which was another highlight. The tortillas were comparable to the cheapest store brand you could possible buy. Imagine buying stale tortillas from the dollar store and having them completely fall apart while trying to pick them up. These seemed like they were microwaved instead of being cooked properly on a flat top or comal. The margarita was a glass that looked like it was stuffed with as much ice as they possibly could get into it. Literally the margaritas was gone in less than 5 sips and this place calls itself the "Home of the margarita". Lastly our server was probably the worst server I've had in an extremely long time, maybe ever. She literally had better things to do than to even check on us. She brought my lemonade out 15 minutes after ordering it AFTER my wife reminded her of it. At the time there was only two other tables seated so she was not overwhelmed to forget the only table that had a pending order. After our food was brought over she focused on setting up tables for two large parties. Never checked on us again, we had to flag the runner to bring us boxes for our food and the check. After waiting for almost 20 minutes to get our check and reminding the runner twice cause we couldn't even get the waitress to look in our direction she FINALLY brought the check. My wife and I could've left and saved ourselves a hundred bucks and nobody would've noticed. Morally I couldn't do it but I can leave a review emphasizing what a waste of time and money this place is. Unfortunately this is a place we will never return to and definitely don't recommend it. If you want real Mexican/Hispanic "cuisine" go to the east side of town. There are a million hole in the walls over there that are half the price that will treat you like gold and serve you genuine Latin food with fresh made tortillas that will survive being picked up long enough for you to...
Read moreIf you haven’t been to Hussong’s Cantina in Henderson, you’re missing out on a masterclass in Mexican cantina vibes. From first step in, it feels like the place hit the sweet spot between lively and welcoming.
Atmosphere & Ambience: The design does justice to its legacy — lots of character. The long bar, custom woodwork, brick accents and the fireplace nod to its Ensenada roots. It’s energetic without being overwhelming; perfect for grabbing margaritas with friends or a fun family dinner.
Menu & Food: Everything I tried hit high notes. Their classics — carnitas tacos, carne asada, the chile relleno — are done well, with bold flavors and generous portions. For starters, the Classic Guacamole and Mango-Habanero version are excellent; the Elote Ensenada balances smoky, creamy, tangy just right. Vegan and lighter options show they didn’t just make a menu for one crowd.
Drinks & Specials: If the legend is true, this is the birthplace of the margarita, and they lean into it. The cocktails feel built with respect — fresh ingredients, good proportions. Happy hour adds value.
Service & Value: Service tends to be friendly and efficient. Portions are generous; prices aren’t bargain basement, but reflect the quality, ambiance, and location. Compared to many Mexican spots in the Valley, it gives more than you pay for.
Favorite Moments: Watching the chefs grill the carne asada, smelling the spices in the air, the sound of laughter at neighboring tables. The moment you sip a well-made Original Margarita and realize the legacy isn’t just branding...
Read moreUpdated. Went back- didn't order the same things we initially had issues with but ordered the vegan enchiladas, vegan chimichanga and jalopeno/pineapple margarita and it was all delicious.
We have been a customer of Hussongs for 12 plus years, going to the one in Mandalay Bay atleast twice a month. We have two large margarita bowls we purchased 8 plus years ago and when my husband and I split the big margarita we know there is alcohol in it. Second time to the one in Henderson, the first time our vegan meals were excellent - we had not ordered a margarita that time. Today, July 20 we were hoping to have the same experience. I ordered the vegan chili relleno which was half the size as last time plus someone chose to add more stuff than what was originally in any of the previous dish I've ordered for many years...added a lot of chopped onions, peppers. Asked for water three times. We sat in the bar....we brought our own extra large margarita glass and told the male bartender we always get the margarita that is blue with mint leaves, cucumber ( told summer dream)- he brings out a blue drink with oranges and cherry's and which tasted like a watered down coconut margarita wirh absolutely no tequila. Terrible. He asked if we liked and I told him coconut was overpowering and he could tell we disnt like it. Then walked away. I asked him where the cucumber and mint was and he said "oh, you want that?".....the whole experience...
