Chicken N Pickle – Henderson: A Five-Star Playful Retreat
The Henderson outpost of Chicken N Pickle fulfills its lively promise of "good food, good friends, great fun." This expansive indoor/outdoor "eatertainment" complex sprawls impressively over three acres along St. Rose Parkway, and its design immediately captivates the senses. Dining areas unfold over two levels, seamlessly flowing into covered outdoor patios and vibrant game courts. As the early evening light bathes the space, the casual sports bar decor sparkles under a canopy of twinkling string lights and dynamic LEDs, creating an inviting yet energetic ambiance.
Our group embarked on a culinary journey, sampling a delightful range of menu highlights that left us thoroughly impressed. The Buffalo-style smoked wings, perfectly crisp and tantalizingly tangy, delighted our taste buds. The quesadilla, generously packed with hot, melty goodness, was a comforting classic. The artisan pizza offered a savory and chewy experience, topped with fresh, vibrant ingredients that stood out on the plate, while the tostadas delivered a bright punch of flavor, enhanced by creamy dollops of crema and fragrant cilantro. Each dish, with its fresh, quality ingredients, felt artfully crafted, a testament to the brand's commitment to "fresh, quality ingredients" that are "ethically sourced."
We savored a crisp local Blue Moon that danced on the palate alongside a bold Belgian lager. Making this an ideal gathering place for families, friends, and solo diners alike.
Beyond the delicious fare, Chicken N Pickle's main attraction is the exhilarating sport of pickleball – America's fastest-growing recreational pastime – and the Henderson venue certainly does not disappoint. Boasting eight covered outdoor courts and six climate-controlled indoor courts, we reserved a court on a lively Friday evening and were impressed by the facility's top-notch equipment: high ceilings, quality nets, and ample space for chasing after the lively lime-green balls. The engaging pickleball experience was a lively playground overflowing with activities – giant Jenga blocks, cornhole lanes, shuffleboard, ping-pong tables, and even a life-size Battleship. Families gathered to watch their children play bean bag toss while adults rotated seamlessly between intense games and lively socializing. The fully fenced dog park added an extra touch for four-legged guests, creating an atmosphere reminiscent of "the coolest backyard you'll never want to leave," with laughter and friendly competition filling the air.
As newcomers to pickleball, stepping onto the court was invigorating. With friends rallying around us, our first serves were met with high-fives and contagious laughter. The game itself is easy to pick up yet addictively fun; the joyful connection of the paddle meeting ball led to grins all around with every successful shot. As the sun dipped below the horizon, the court lights cast a soft, warm glow, heightening the electric mood. Nearby, other players celebrated narrow victories at the net or lounged in lawn chairs, cheering each other on. Every paddle swing felt festive, with upbeat music from overhead speakers harmoniously blending with the joyous buzz of diners and players, creating an inviting soundtrack for the evening. It was a wonderfully social scene, punctuated by impromptu tips from more seasoned players.
As night fell, the Henderson venue's indoor spaces transformed into relaxed, lounge-like havens. Families lingered over their meals while others congregated around high-top tables near the bustling sports bar. The crowd was a delightful mix – parents with kids, groups of friends, and couples searching for a night of fun – all contributing to the vibrant tapestry of life at Chicken N Pickle. Laughter echoed, spirits soared, and the atmosphere pulsed with energy, proving this venue is a true sanctuary for...
Read moreMoved to Las Vegas 3 months ago. Our first experience with Chicken N Pickle was a doordash delivery. We ordered a half chicken and Chicken and Waffles. We were blown away. Best fried chicken and waffles I've ever had. My husband LOVED his half chicken. There's a smoky flavor in there somewhere and it sets itself apart from other chicken joints. Our next several experiences were in-house, on friday afternoons, typically between 4-5:30, in an effort to beat the after work dinner/drink rush. We've always had a good experience with food, even if service is a bit slow. We've been enough times to understand the employee breakdown on Fridays. Shift change is about 5pm. So, 1-2 servers with a bartender until 5pm and then 15 new employees come in the door for the Friday evening rush. This explains why our service at 4:30 is often times slower than it should be. Anyway, this is all back story. Our most recent visit last week was more than disappointing and what this specific review is referencing. My husband's order - The half chicken: comes with a tortilla, avocado and a pepper. The pepper is supposed to be green. This time it was BLACK. Charred black. It would have been better had they not even put it on the plate. Probably wouldn't have even noticed it was missing. I had the buffalo chicken wrap with fries and a side of ranch. The fries had the texture of freezer burn. The ranch was overly watered-down. Most of my chicken was soggy batter and "'m not entirely sure the tomatoes were on the side of fresh. Shitty fries can be covered with good ranch. This ranch was so watery, it ran away from the fry. If you're going to not charge for ranch, don't water the shit down. I also had a frozen strawberry margarita. I went to the bar and ordered it myself. As I was mindlessly watching one of the TVs, and waiting to hear a blender, I noticed the bartender leave the bar and go to a shed outside. This is where he then returned with a frozen concoction I can only assume was a premix? The color should have tipped me off. It was a light pink, where it should have been dark pink/red. And the taste, my goodness. Most people might like to drink tequila straight from a straw, not this gal. It was completely undrinkable but i pushed myself through half of it. For $10, i wasn't going to let it go to waste. This is where the service part comes into play. Server service is almost non-existent at the tables inside. I had to go to the bar to order my own drink. I know, heavens to besty! but for someone with social anxiety, standing alone at a bar WAITING for the bartender to notice you is painstaking hell. When we were clearly done eating, our server came over, asked us if we wanted any dessert (no, thank you), cleared our table and left. My husband asked why I didn't ask her for the check...b/c that would be a given if we say no to dessert?? Apparently, it's not. She was spotted 5 minutes later wiping down tables that hadn't been used in the 45 minutes we were there. So we trekked BACK to the bar to close out our tab. We like this place. It has a good vibe, cool atmosphere, awesome theme, but the service could use some tweaking and the food accompaniments an overhaul. We'll go back, but it wont be on our weekly date night rotation...
Read moreI expected more from this new spot.... I live across the street from this new Chicken N Pickle, I visited one evening in December & while the CNP looks like it would be a premium experience judging from the nice building & grounds the culinary experience was a disappointment, to say the least. As I walked in I was very impressed with how nice the pickle ball courts, building & grounds were so well laid out, a lot of very thoughtful touches went into the architecture, even the parking lot was nice & well lit. Unfortunately, the same can not be said for the food experience design. Right from when You walk up to the counter there was no greeting, just a demand to present Your credit card, (even McDonalds greets You) then they took Your food order from a menu that is a bizarre cross between a fast food joint & also wants to be a barbecue place, the menu design can't seem to decide which it wants to be & the menu definitely didn't make any sense given the premium looking interior that had some nice lighting & distinct spaces. Anyways, I ordered a smoked chicken plate & then seated myself at the bar area. Service was friendly yet exceedingly average all around, they seemed very disorganized for being open a few weeks. The food arrived & the food presentation was non existent, looked like it was tossed on to the plain white plate, very boring. Where the biggest error, in my experienced opinion lies, the drink selection, not good, particularly the non-existent wine selection, is horrible. This establishment is really leaving a lot on the table with the lackluster food & beverage experience, they could really have a hit on their hands with the nice building & grounds if they started over with the design of the food experience, I mean dump what they have & literally start over. For instance, the largest demographic as group that plays pickle ball are women, women typically drink cocktails or wine, there isn't even a wine list & if You order one of the 2 or 3 wines they do have they don't even serve it in a proper glass or have an option for a wine glass with a stem, so as You drink Your wine or other beverage it becomes warm as a result of being heated up by Your hands & if You have been breaking a sweat playing pickle ball then it's even worse. I hate to be a downer & I would definitely come here to play pickle ball, however, I would definitely go somewhere else with better food & beverage to eat & drink afterwards. I hope Chicken N Pickle makes some adjustments & maximizes...
