I stopped by Roberto's on a Saturday while visiting Vegas for this year's NBA Summer League games. I went in just planning to get some tacos for lunch to hold me over until dinner at a casino restaurant. Spoiler Alert: I never made it to dinner.... and I was not mad at all!
In full transparency, I should have asked how BIG the tacos were before I ordered. I saw the prices and (being from California) expected to get ripped off, so I asked the wrong question: How many tacos come in an order? The nice woman at the register told me: "Just one," and (being too ambitious) I ordered three: 2 adobada tacos and one carnitas with everything, which included a slathering of guacamole and pico de gallo with onions and cilantro. I knew I had gotten in too deep when she handed me my order with a FORK and I felt the weight of the container. Then I opened it, saw how big the tacos were, and started to question myself. Can I handle that much delicious grilled meat in one sitting? Could I finish them all? Should I even try?
Then the taco gods whispered to me: "Tu eres el chingón" and I dug in... I had to try both salsas (red & green) from the salsa bar (the only thing missing was radish) and added a jalapeño to honor the taco gods.
The adobada was good, but the carnitas made me wish I had ordered 2 of those instead. This wasn't the shredded carnitas some places sell--these were chunks of juicy pork perfectly crisped on the grill overflowing from the tortilla. In fact, the tortilla couldn't even handle the load because it ripped a little when I picked up the carnitas taco to bite it. Not ripped like "fell apart", but ripped in the right places like fashionable jeans, and made the whole fork thing make sense.
There was so much meat perfectly balanced with the flavor of the guacamole and Pico that I actually shook my head in satisfied disbelief. The adobada didn't have the marinated flavor and hint of pineapple that I expected, but it was still delicious, and the red salsa complimented it well. The green salsa and jalapeño were like back up singers to the carnitas--nice accompaniments, but just there to make the star look better.
The staff was friendly, the place was clean, the food was great, AND they're open 24 hours! A lot of crimes happen every day in Vegas, but the biggest crime of all has to be that there aren't more hours in the day to enjoy Roberto's tacos. Definitely coming back here next time...
Read moreI go to this Robert's all the time, and I have never had an issue until last night. I always order the chicken quessadilla with plain white chicken, as it normally comes with pre-made chicken that's cooked with onions and peppers, which I'm allergic to. However last night the two ladies working there were very rude to me and my friend, and insisted there was no way they could simply take the chicken they use for the tacos and just put it in the quessadilla. Again, I have done this every time I've gone there, and the lady who has served me before lied and told the other lady that it wasn't her who did it in the past for me. I had to drive all the way to a different Robertos, where when I asked for the same thing they said no problem. I am dissatisfied with the lack of customer service by the two women who were working there last night. Especially when I go in there for lunch all the time. They refused to accommodate my food allergy last night and I am so disgusted at their behavior towards me and my friend. His issue with them was that he asked them to put guacamole and sour cream on his entire chimichanga instead of half and half on each side. The lady lied and said no and pulled an excuse out of her ass. My friend then asked the other lady behind her in Spanish if she could do it and she made an exception for him once she realized he could understand them talking with each other. However when he got his food it was COVERED in the sauces and was soggy. I love Roberto's but this location on Las Vegas Blvd will never get my business again. At least the one on Rainbow has the strawberry...
Read moreGoing to any Roberto's nowadays is a very big gamble. You can walk into one and have some of the best that Roberto's has to offer, but you go to another Roberto's and you just want to throw it away or demand your money back! This location is one of those that you want to throw it all away and demand your money back.. The prices have nearly doubled and the quality of the food is truly dumpster worthy and not worth the time to even pass by the place. Ordering the basic Bean and Cheese burrito with a side of sour cream was just shy of $10!! You get more tortilla than beans and cheese, the 4 oz. sour cream is actually 1 oz., trust me I checked!! Is it worth going back to get ripped off, nope!?!.. I would rather go to the competition or even take my chances with Taco Bell because their is nothing authentic about Roberto's Taco Shop anymore, find the one that sells actual street tacos, carnitas, lingua and True handmade and homemade salsa. A bean and cheese burrito should be bigger than a plastic fork, wouldn't...
