It's not often I'm overly impressed with an establishment the way casting iron presents. The decor and atmosphere are very well thought out, rustic in feel but every detail has class and a modern vibe and class. The staff were extremely friendly and attentive, additional the owners really took pride in professional presentation of both safety guidelines before throwing and in their cocktails. Now as for the drinks, I can say beyond the shadow of a doubt that their old fashioned is one of the best in the state. Every detail of their drinks (both the old fashioned side and the fruity high ball cocktails) has been carefully thought out and balanced in the recipe building process. To this point, the owner makes his own Maraschino cherries! With delightfully complex layering of flavors and spices, they pair perfectly with the sounds and smells of the wood decor, and whiskey choices to make truly superb drinks that rival the speakeasy's of Seattle. If you've never had a reason to go to downtown Enumclaw I highly recommend seeking out casting iron for an afternoon or evening activity.

So much fun; great staff; great atmosphere

My family and I were stopping in Enumclaw to kill some time before heading to Mt. Rainer for family photos and had our dogs in tow and were looking for something to do. We stumbled upon this incredible spot and found it was dog friendly so headed on in. We unfortunately had JUST grabbed lunch somewhere else in town so didn't get any food (though it looked amazing) but, we snagged a few cocktails and WOW, they were all delicious. My mai Tai came out lit on fire (way too cool) and the lemon drop was perfectly tart and delicious (though we did half the sweetener so if you like tart this is a great option). We highly recommend their hand crafter cocktails. We also decided to throw some axes and were throwing like Champs after some guidance from the wonderful and friendly staff. What a fun time!

The food here was disgusting! We all ordered some sort of burger and they were universally terrible. Personally, I ordered a fairly simple burger with a patty, cheese, garlic (which I had them hold), arugula, crispy onions, a bun and fries. To start with the food arrived on a metal tray which must have been kept in the freezer because it was stone cold. Moreover, the BUN was barely thawed and was cold to the touch. Everything inside the bun was also cold (except the crispy onions but that was only because there weren’t any) AND, because the tray was so cold, so we’re the fries. There was only one server on duty for the entire bar so service was very slow and we did not send the food back because we didn’t want to be there all night waiting. The server was doing the best she could but there was a large party of guests and several other smaller groups and she was just overwhelmed keeping up with the orders for food and tending the bar as well.

There was a second employee running the axe throwing activities and we asked about the rate schedule which only stated that you could do a 70 minute tutored session for $30 or at certain times, $5 for kids under 12. When we asked, we were informed that they also offered a 20 minute session for $20 which better fit our needs. Two of our group decided to try the axe throwing and were directed to sign an electronic waiver after which we were directed to an open lane and given some quick instruction. After completing our 20 min session we went to pay and the bill came to over $40 with tax!!! What they don’t tell you is that all of their pricing is not per lane as we understood but rather is PER INDIVIDUAL!!! For the group of 10 or so that was there at the time, that would have been at least a $300 bill for the 70 minute session - roughly $260/hr for an 8’x12’ space and an axe!!!

All in all, it was $7/ea for beer, $15/ea for a small margarita and a small cosmos, $16/ea for COLD food, they had run out of pulled pork by 4:00 o’clock and they had no BBQ sauce so the menu became limited as several items required one or both of those. A tiny cup of extra sauce was an added dollar per cup (two tablespoons) and $40 for 20 minutes of axe throwing - we won’t be back!!!

Post Script: About a day after I posted this review the owner contacted me and said that a one star review was bad for his business and I shouldn’t have mentioned the food in my review because they don’t make the food. Excuse me? I’m sitting in your bar, at your table, reading the menu that you gave me, using your condiments and utensils and I’m supposed to know from all that that you don’t make the food!!! Turns out the food is made in a small trailer in the parking lot next door - no wonder they don’t tell you that up front!!! As far as the axe throwing being $20/20 min PER PERSON (which you are also just supposed to know) well, “we have to replace the target boards every day” is their rational behind that. Let’s see, that $40 for two people (assuming you're not going to play by yourself) for 20 minutes that’s $120/hr. Now, assuming you rent just one of the 8 alleys you have available every hour for the 12 hours you are open, that’s roughly $1440 a day. For that price I’m sure you could not only replace ALL the target boards but you might even get a jump on making your own kitchen so the food you serve your customers isn’t cold because some poor smuck had to run it in from the parking lot next door. In short, I’m sorry you were offended by my one start rating but that’s the level of service we received. If you want a better rating, do a...

I really wanted to leave 4.5 stars but gave 5 as I will explain below.

First off to the dipshit who left a negative review that he had no clue what to do or where to go when he walked In, if anyone who comes in for the first time has even a 1/4 of a single brain cell that functions, you can figure it out. It’s not hard. We walked maybe 10 steps inside and went to the kiosk in the middle of the place and got checked in. And if you don’t know what to do, we all have a voice box.

Atmosphere 5/5: although Enumclaw’s roots are farming and agriculture and although that is fairly irrelevant, the wood theme is beautifully done. Looks rustic and creates a great culture and identity for this restaurant.

AXE Throwing 5/5: this is obviously the main attraction that drives business to this place. For the negative reviews complaining about cost, it’s well posted on the website what it costs, so don’t act surprised when you come in. They do a good job doing a safety briefing and giving pointers. My only suggestion would be to better explain or have a sheet that explains the amount of points per ring. Our marker didn’t work anyways so we never kept score. 1 hour for 3 people was plenty enough to feel satisfied and eat. The axes without the tape did feel slippery at least on my hands. I preferred the axes with the tape on them. I felt I had more control in my throws.

FOOD 4/5: I saved this for last as it was the least favorite part of our experience and that’s not necessarily a bad thing. Again for those who wrote negative reviews because they assumed they served burgers, who the hell doesn’t look online for a menu before they try a place for the first time? Menu is on their website and clear.

From my understanding in reading the owners responses on other negative reviews, this establishment doesn’t have a proper hood system which drastically limits the type and quality of food they can serve per health regulations. With that said I am impressed with what they do offer for food with just using an easy bake oven and an air fryer.

I wanted the turkey leg but apparently it was discontinued. Not a big deal I ordered a Caesar salad and a side order of the pork meat. Caesar had alot of dressing but was good, same with the pulled pork. Couldn’t tell how it was prepped, but it was good. Wife ordered an orchard pear salad and a custom loaded potato. Maybe I’m not used to this style, but this potato was not opened up and loaded like they are traditionally , it was smashed into the plate with toppings on top. Wife didn’t like it and didn’t eat it. The pizza didn’t do it for her either and she didn’t eat it. We didn’t complain and still aren’t. Just wasn’t our pallete. We did see some nachos that came out that looked good also.

We didn’t have any alcohol so can’t really comment on that, but drinks looked good. The lane next to us ordered damn near 1 of everything on the menu so we got a good look at signature cocktails.

Overall this is a great establishment and seems to be thriving and I would...

My intent with this review is not to discourage anyone from visiting this place, but to prepare you so you can have a better experience than we did, and hopefully offer the business a few things they can work on.

Overall axe throwing was a blast - super fun and definitely worth doing; and drink prices were actually pretty reasonable too.

However, when we arrived 2 staff were at the check in booth, the bar was very quiet, neither of them greeted us for a couple minutes. When they did they took our card but never told us the amount of time we had or how much it costs, nor is that information posted anywhere (it's $30/person for 1hr by the way).

Instruction was good and axe throwing itself was really fun.

The waitress came around twice to ask if we'd like another drink. When she brought me a second beer, she took away my previous one that still was still half full (please don't do that, always let someone finish their drink unless they say they are done).

At the end of the hour we were told our time was up, so we stopped throwing and stood outside the booth, finishing our drinks and waiting for the bill. ~10 minutes later we were told again that our time was up, but she was gone before we could ask for the bill. The bill never came. As this was our first time, and they charged the card when we first arrived, we assumed we had already paid and headed out. The next day we saw that they charged us an extra 23% tip.

The staff is nice, but the lack of awareness and professionalism added up. The automatic 23% tip after not bringing us a bill was the part that really rubbed us the wrong way.

Hope you can learn from our experience and have a better time...
