I'm deciding to only give this place an extra star on account of my parents enjoying it. My experience felt vastly different, obviously.
We drove here from Seattle to try it out. A few things: over an hour of driving, $23 basic pasta, and service that wouldn't look me in the eye does not feel, WAS not, worth it.
I had the basic spaghetti and meatballs, curious about their meatballs being made in-house. No flavor to them, they were tough to cut through, and for $23, you got twoâwhich, to be fair, are sized well. They're also the same size as Trader Joe's Italian meatballs from the frozen section, only those ones have flavor and you get about 13 of them for $4.99. The sauce tasted like Ragu - plain, basic, watery. I swear by Rao's sauce, and I genuinely think that has significantly more flavor than the sauce I had tonight. The spaghetti noodles were spongy and felt overcooked, like they were TOO soft. Server only asked my folks if they wanted cheese and black pepper before leaving, I straight up did not have the choice, and felt embarrassed to flag anyone down on a busy dinner night to ask. The meatballs were nice and hot, but the spaghetti itself was room temperature, same for the sauce. All this for $23 when I could've made the same thing at home for WAY less and with added flavor...
I will admit the bread was good, though. Nice crust. Don't know if it's made in-house.
I don't mean to sound bitter or like a petty reviewer. But the service I received (or lack thereof) isn't exactly making a kind impact on this review I'm writing. I was seated on the further side of the table and was retreating to my phone every now and again to help my sensory overload (but, reader, please note before continuing: I set my phone down or redirect my attention to the server when the table is approached, because that's just basic manners). My folks, who were on the side closest to the servers, got eye contact and communication from the staff. As mentioned previously, they were asked if they wanted cheese or pepper. I was not. Come time for dessert, they were also asked. I was not. The moment my folks were finished answering whatever they'd like, the server/waitress immediately walked off, leaving me in the dust. I'd already been feeling overstimulated from the noise of the restaurant and other patrons, and the service has not convinced me to ever make a trip back here to try again. I felt shunned.
Maybe I do mean to sound bitter. I can't believe I used a day of my vacation to come out here for this. Cannot recommend this place in good conscience. Good...
Read moreI simply donât understand the reviews of this place based on my experience. This is our first time having it here although weâve sat and wondered a few times I guess today we finally had our opportunity to check it out so we did.
First thing that stands out is the pricing Iâm all for paying good money for good food but man for simple pasta dishes at 20+ dollars a plate I was not impressed at all.
The server was lovely very nice however aside from that everything else was awful. Iâll start with the calamari generic breaded rings almost flavorless very chewy.
I got the chicken Alfredo and my wife got the basil pesto something or other. Her dish was basically swimming in sauce even the server came out when she wasnât eating and had only taken a few bites and said âtoo much sauce?â and she said yes and it was promptly removed from the bill which was the right choice. Kudos there.
My chicken Alfredo was a mess the chicken was dry and it had no flavor almost like it was cooked, chilled and reheated. Same with the sauce. Just nothing about it was good, but I tried to get something for what I was paying for.
I shared with my toddler and she was a fan which I wouldnât say as a positive. Kids arenât known for their flavor pallets typically.
The bread and oil was probably the best part and the soup was ok.
All said I had 2 pints of beer and my Wife a glass of wine. With her plate removed. My food plus appetizer and a cup of soup was a whopping $70+ meal. One we didnât finish and refused to take home. To top it all off when we simply told the server why we were not eating and did not want to go boxes my Wife said the chef we assume was basically glaring at her as if how dare someone not praise the mess presented to us.
We were polite. I paid and we left.
Later we both agreed none of what we did eat agreed with us and spent the afternoon and evening with sour stomachs.
We will not...
Read morewhen we walked in the place seemed dark, no one greeted us, so we sat ourselfs by the window... the waitress that come over seemed friendly enough. she gave us the menus and asked if we wanted something to drink. My husband agreed to "taste" or "try" a draft beer, he recieved a full glass of beer. I said water was fine for the moment. we ordered a sandwitch. there was no asking if we would like a salad or soup to go with it. she didn't ask if I would like to add a glass of anyting with my choose. she did however have time to spend quite a bit of time with the time besides us. even suggesting a wine to taste, answering questions they had on the wine. she gave them excellant service, refilling waters, and other items. she gave them promte service with their tab. she we got her attention we asked for the bill and had to wait several minutes for it. with just a basic thank you written on the bill. when we left she did not say a word to us. would we go there again. NO!!! my ruebun had cornbeef, cheese, but some how they forgot the main ingrediant. My husband's sandwich was full of salad on top of it, was up able to close it and he said that he would not order it again as they forgot...
