This is a brewery I had been wanting to try on previous trips to the Erie area, but it just hadn't worked out. But on a recent Sunday evening, my wife and I had the time and the chance, and it was a nice experience.
Located and connected to a car garage, you definitely get the laid-back, classic Americana vibe here, which suits the Erie area well. It's a decently small area inside, but the bartenders to do well to keep the orders moving while being friendly, and there are a number of standing tables outside. While there, I tried their ESB, since this isn't a style every brewery carries, and I enjoy the uniqueness over some of the more popular American brewing styles. It was a good take on the style, and the price was fair for it.
We were only there on a quick stop, or I would have liked to try more, as well as maybe nab some food from what appears to be a rotating food truck offering. That night, it was Cousins Maine Lobster (which was a bit ironic for us because we and the truck were both visiting from Pittsburgh), and business for the truck seemed to be doing very well. Overall, this brewery is quite nice, and adds another able hand to a smaller, but still strong...
Read moreGreat beers in terms of variety and quality! I drink everything but IPAs, and there are always tasty options. They brew seasonal beers for us basic b*tches--of which Jingleballer (the Christmas ale) and Vampire vs. Wolfman (a pumpkin stout) are my favorites. Don't pass up Happy Little Oranges if it's on tap while you're there! It's a crowd pleaser and my favorite beer, not just at EAW but in all of Erie.
Local food trucks rather than a kitchen also provide a lot of variety. They advertise which ones are booked for specific Fridays and Saturdays; check their social media for that and events. It's updated all the time.
The atmosphere ranges from a small eclectic circle of regulars to a full house, but it attracts people from all kinds of backgrounds and ages. Jeff and Steve are friendly and know Erie and beer. You will like them...
Read moreThe best beers brewed in Erie. Every beer in every style on the list, is excellent. My favorite brewery. From fruited sours, hazy IPAs, to Octoberfest marzens and dark lagers, I've never regretted ordering any of them, and some have very special places in my heart. Founded on good beer, this brewery tops the list also on staff and service. I couldn't think of a better place to recommend to friends visiting Erie or an Erieite that's never tried it. It's a must visit. Kudos to the brewers and...
