1st time here.. We wanted to pick up 2 frozen pasties.. So, we pulled up to the drive through window and I told the lady we wanted 2 frozen beef patties.. A minute later, she's screaming across the restaurant asking what I wanted again, and I told her 2 frozen beef pasties.. So, she comes back with a bag and receipt.. Next thing I notice, the bad feels warm!! I look inside, and she gave me 2 cooked and warm pasties, when I asked for frozen.. So, she asked if I wanted money back or a 3rd frozen one.. So, I gave her the cooked ones back and she brought back a bag of 3 frozen ones!! It was nice after she screwed up the order.. Anyways, so I cooked one up when I got home.. The top and sides of the shell become hard when done cooking, so all I was able to consume was the filling and the bottom shell.. So, for $6 something a piece, I'm not sure these are worth the price!! I'll have to return to try a cooked pasty to get a better assessment before I make my final judgment.. We still have the 2 remaining pasties in the freezer, if anyone knows how to cook them without the crust becoming too...

Read moreWhen traveling I always ask locals where to eat. Gram's was recommended as THE place to get pasties. I'm glad we listened because it made our first experience eating pasties a memorable one.
We arrived 15 minutes before the restaurant opened for the day. When a gentleman we assumed to be the manager saw us waiting, he invited us in. How hospitable! Made us feel right at home! The only drawback was there was no coffee available...so I had a bottle of iced tea while my husband had a Coke. The shell of my pasty was light, the filling was a breakfast combo. They also had frozen pasties with various fillings to go. There were plenty of gifts and t-shirts offered for sale.
Gram's Pasties was one of the highlights of our first visit to the Upper Pennisula. We look forward to...
