Epic Wings — Restaurant in Escondido

I do NOT normally complain on reviews, but this experience was pretty bad. Went there to watch a football game at the bar and had one of the worst server experience I've had. Bartender obviously was not a bartender. 1. Finally got their attention, seemingly reluctantly, and 2. they closed us out with the first drink, never asked us if we were going to want more, as in to open a tab for drinks and food (we let them know at the onset that we were there to watch the game, Monday night football). 3. Had to ask for the game to be put on several times, as well as other customers around the bar. 4. Asked for another beer, was told I should have asked for one before I closed out or left the tab open. Held my comments. Reiterated that we were staying for the game. 5. My friend was served a very flat beer and he asked if he could possibly get a different pour and was then told that it's just the way that beer is made and tastes. 6. They did not change out his beer. 7. Asked for them to turn on the volume to the game several times, along with other customers that were there for the only game on that night. 8. Asked for another beer and was told I should have kept my tab open even though I had mentioned we were planning on staying for the game. 9. The server told us both that we should work on our communication skills since the server didn't understand that we wanted a tab open while we watch the game. 10. Asked again for the volume to be raised on the game at the bar, along with other customers. 11. Was not given any food menus at the bar and it took awhile to get the attention of the bartender, not busy just not present. A new bartender showed up and it was black and white compared to the first. They changed out my friends beer and compt'd it, turned the volume to a decent level that satisfied all sections of the restaurant, was attentive, and apologized for the inconvenience. Apologies were not needed, but appreciated. Second bartender is the only reason I gave 2 stars. Really don't mean to be that complaining guy here, but this was definitely a weird and rude experience. I like the spot but if this service from that one individual is something that I have to avoid, I'm not going to this place again. It's not worth it for chicken wings. Lol. Hope this employee changes her service style or finds one. We ended up leaving before the game ended. Food was good, just had 6 Buffalo wings and 3 beers. Would have had more if I could have been served regularly. Hello, my first visit to this location on 7/30/24 4:30. Restaurant was relatively empty with 2 people in the front and 2 in the kitchen with the manager. We sat inside the diner with a view of the front counter and kitchen. I was shocked and surprised to see how the employees behaved and the manager completely condoned it. Last time I visit this location, for safety health hazards I feel the Health Department needs to be aware of the following we witnessed: Food came out in 15 minutes and cold, completely unacceptable. None of the staff including the manager was wearing any gloves when handling and touching the food. The 2 people up front handling cashier/money transactions also were in the kitchen handling and touching the food without any gloves, disgusting. One of the cashiers was caught rubbing his noise and then entering the kitchen handling food, unbelievable. Caught manager walking out of the kitchen getting plastic forks, walking back to the kitchen and was observed eating with other workers while putting together orders and bringing them out, unbelievable. All of this while in the presence of the manager, completely disgusting and unprofessional behavior by all working that afternoon. If they worked for me I would've have fired all of them along time ago and...

Let me preface this by saying I LOVE wings n things/epic wings. I've been frequenting these for over a decade between the college area, Santee, and Carmel mountain ranch locations. They are always consistent with the quality of food and service. You ask for some extra ranch? They provide you with 2, no questions asked. Want more than that? Gotta pay for them. Fair enough.

THIS PARTICULAR LOCATION HOWEVER, they refused to give me a SINGLE ranch with my order without charging me. I ordered fries online and there wasn't any ranch in the bag so I asked for some ranch and they said okay but we have to charge you. And I pointed out that there wasn't a single ranch in the bag? And they said the reason is because fries come with chipotle ranch on them. I stood there in shock letting them know that I've been a customer of wings n things for years and have never had this issue. They apologized but said I have to pay. So after ordering online for the convenience I had to put out my card to pay for ranch. Which isn't expensive but it's not about the money at this point.

I won't be coming back to this location to say the least. If you don't want to be nickel and dimed for something like ranch, then save yourself the time and go to a different location, because I can't recommend the food...
