We dropped in, late, tired, and expecting generic Americanized "Asian" food. The "authentic Korean" and unfamiliar menu was a bit of a worrisome surprise, but also ... tempting. We opted for one "safe" dish (yakisoba) and one experiment (beef Bibimbap.) Both were quite good, and the owner (?) was friendly and helpful, explaining some of the pieces, and teaching me how I was supposed to eat the Bibimbap. (I'm not sure how an "order at the counter and wait for your food" restaurant can have "waiter attention" issues. I got more attention (and more useful) than I was expecting (but it was a quiet night.)) Visually, the Bibimbap compared quite favorably to pictures I see on the web. I was pretty impressed. This is a place I'd go back to to sample Korean dishes, trusting that if I didn't like something it'd be because I didn't like it, rather than that it was badly prepared. Decor was ... adequate (except for serving dishes, which were impressively nice stainless steel. Sort of like going to a "diner" and getting served on fancy plates.) Most dishes...
Read moreLet me start off with their food being 5/5. I've been to cities like Toronto, LA, San Francisco, etc... and the food is so good I could compare them to these cities. But, there is only one thing that's keeping me from giving this place 5/5 and that's the staff that is very old fashioned and it seems like the older gentleman really doesnt like Chinese students. As I am not Chinese I didnt feel unwelcomed, but the Chinese students behind me had to wait for like 5 mins to get their order in (other reviews same similar things) . Also, the owner is never smiling or positive. Dont get me wrong, I'm not one of those guys who wants fake smiles, but this guys attitude is what makes cafe Seoul a dreadful environment. Other than that, amazing food; and great prices. I truly wish they could lighten up the environment since it's in such a good location that gives it the potential to be the best Korean...
Read moreMy daughter and I stopped in at a quarter to two on Thursday for a change of pace from the boring food we usually eat. We stood at the counter for over 5 minutes and watched a guy bussing tables, thinking he would help us when he came back this direction. A Korean girl came up behind us, wanting to pay for her drink, the guy helped her, although was rude to her when she didn't have cash but her credit card was accepted, all the while NOT acknowledging us at all. We are still smiling and waiting. He goes back to cleaning up tables and I told my daughter that maybe he'll help on his way back this time.... He went back and emptied his trays and then walked right past us and started cleaning tables again. 10 or more minutes have passed and we were already hungry when we went out for lunch so good thing Subway is right next door to...
