This is incredibly disappointing to write. I had high hopes for anybody who purchased this space since it’d likely be local folks and they could potentially rake in some serious dough since they’re across the street from Matt Knight Arena.
The look inside the place is absolutely fantastic, but that’s not something they had to work at since it’s exactly the same as the previous bar that was there. This new place, the Wild Goat, has been here for a while now and has plenty of time to acclimate to the heavy crowds Matt Knight brings. Not sure why they are called Wild Goat when the Wild Duck is right across the street but I digress.
The host had his shirt partially unbuttoned from the top and a hat he wore. He immediately seemed annoyed and was short in his speech. It was evident, this man was having a bad day.
Outside patio area was not so pleasant. The broken speaker outside making obvious scratchy noises along with the heavily damaged propane heaters completed the outside ambience.
Service! The waitress we had was absolutely amazing as she kind and understanding. We sat down at approximately 6:40pm or so. I quickly put in an order for mozzarella sticks because I wanted to get ahead of the potential rush of folks. Approximately five minutes after my order of mozzarella sticks, our table knew exactly what we wanted for food right when the waitress asked us for our drink order. We ordered our food right away and we waited. We waited some more because it’s busy and we get it, there’s an event going on. We got some of the easiest items on the menu, a burger, some fries, chicken strips, a salad, and their special for the night- Tacos.
As we waited, we observed other tables getting their food prior to us and even after they had sat down approximately twenty minutes after us. We didn’t get our food until approximately 7:50pm. Somewhere around the 7:30pm mark we got our mozzarella sticks so that was cool, I guess.
The food was mediocre at best. Unseasoned cold meat in my tacos and I didn’t bother asking for salt and pepper. Hamburger was bland. They initially didn’t deliver a salad we ordered and had to be reminded we were missing the salad. Utensils apparently are non-existent and we had to request those as well. You really can’t go wrong on chicken strips so those were pretty solid, but barely warm.
They were not incredibly full by any means, which aligns with previous Yelp reviews, and they couldn’t keep pace. YOU HAVE TO BE ABLE TO KEEP PACE...
Read moreMy Son & I went to have breakfast at another new to us cafe, it was going to be our first time eating there. They said they were short staffed & that the kitchen was super backed up. We left that place & Googled a few other places we had never been before & chose Wild Goat. Yes, the food Gods were 100% in our favor with this eatery! Wow, oh wow. I had the Salmon Cake Benedict with Hash Browns & my Son had the Build your own Omelette with Home Fries & a side of Sausage Gravy. I asked for my Benedict to have eggs cooked hard & they did it without any problem!!! The Salmon Cakes were moist, not fishy & quite expertly seasoned. The yummy Hollandaise Sauce was creamy, not gritty & not separated or curdly, which has been my experience, at other places in the past. This food was beyond 1st class superb, the Decaf was delectable & the service was precise. Our server Brittany was so attentive & lovely, that I just had to take a picture of her lovliness as we left. As a rule, I don't like homefries, as they always seem to taste like stale, dried out potatoes, but these were somehow flavor infused, super soft on the inside & toasty on the outside & with the sauteed long strips of green & red bell peppers & onions, I now like Homefries, but only here thus far. I for sure, am getting them next time instead of the hashbrowns. The housemade Biscuit was fresh, flaky, cut in halves & lightly grilled too. Most Sausage Gravy I have had served to me in the past, at most eateries, has so little an amount of Sausage in it, that I don't even bother to order it anymore. I tasted my Son's side order of Sausage Gravy & Whoa Nellie, this is chock full of Sausage & I think possibly more Sausage than Gravy!! Woo Woo. My Son's build your own Omelette he created with, Onion, Sauteed Mushrooms, Spinach, & Ham on the inside with Blue Cheese crumbles on top. We are beyond excited to return & try other dishes, as well as get to see Brittany again. ♡ Went back again today. I got the Cobb Salad, my Son got the Slam Duck Burger with fries & my DIL got a build your own omelet, a side of gravy, a biscuit & homefries. We had Hannah as our server today & she was just as wonderful as could be. I think this is our new found favorite place! My food was beyond terrific & they both said, theirs was perfect as...
Read moreI have eaten here two times now and both times I have been beyond satisfied with my food. First time which is my photo, I created my own omlette with bacon, mushrooms, onions, spinach, and swiss cheese and home fries with a homemade biscuit and a side of country gravy. I also ordered their decaf Peruvian coffee and it's amazing! Not your typical diner coffee. Both times my server was Hannah and she is amazing, excellent service, doesn't rush, and answers all your questions. She wants your time to be memorable and for the food to be of your expectation or better. The Chefs, I refuse to call cooks, create 5 star quality dishes. You can tell they love cooking because it's expressed in every bite.
My second visit I went with my husband and MIL after getting double carpal release surgery. I was starving and wanted to come back for mouth watering breakfast. They have plenty of other options besides breakfast and I was looking at other breakfast options but I just had to have another omlette. I chose Chorizo, mushrooms, Spinach, and blue cheese crumbles with home fries and a homemade biscuit with a side of sausage gravy. This! O M G best omlette EVER. The flavor of the chorizo mixed with the blue cheese, suggested by my husband, was the perfect combination. And you know I had to have that Peruvian decaf coffee, it's just too good!
Their sausage gravy is excellent! I was spoiled by my cousin who I lost about a couple years ago now and he was known for his biscuits and sausage gravy. I'm very picky when it comes to sausage gravy and no one compares to my cousin's until now. My cousin's will always be the best but Wild Goat is now the only sausage gravy from an establishment I will eat.
The service both times has been excellent and the quality is nothing but the best. Great environment for kids, families, gatherings, dates, etc. You will not be disappointed and I guarantee your taste buds will...
