Secind visit , trying to ket them redeem themselves. I went there my first time asked for the green curry bowl, the mango coconut sweet rice and a Tai Tea. The mango rice was cold refreshing and delicious, when you order your curry they ask you what spice level you want; I said mild to medium heat. When I took my first bite of the curry it was so hot it made my throat tighten up and took my breath away. I'm not a fan if hot food but I don't shy ways either, I add Cheyenne peppers to my smoothies regularly, my daughter on the other hand loves heat, so when I got home I gave it to her cause I was unable to tolerate it, I even tried getting a spoon if the rice and just dipping the edge but it was just way way too spicy to even enjoy. So, I give it to my daughter and she was sweating while eating it, and said it was on the edge of too hot for her! I tipped huge the first time cause I was excited for the experience and we chatted about there food and all that good stuff. This time I went for just the mango sweet rice dessert cause it was so perfectly refreshing and lightly sweet, perfect for a hot day type deal, and I decided to give the spring rolls a go,. I order he he flips the thing around and then hawk watched me to see the tip scene part, this time I decided to wait to tip til I get the food and not with my card. I push no tip, he looks at it turns then tells my order to the cook. Kinda made for an awkward moment, lol, it took about 10 minutes to get the order and the mango coconut rice dish was hot 😪 , not the mango part or the coconut milk but the rice, and it changed the whole dish. Wasn't looking for a hot sweet. So with that said , I gave them 2 stars because the food is so very inconsistent, I can't expect to get the same thing twice, or be able trust the spice levels etc. They aren't inexpensive, so to buy food you can't or don't want to eat is disappointing. They have potential and if you like super hot Tai food...
Read moreTo define Quality and service is The chaiyo way. From the way moment I walked up to the cart I felt a great energetic vibe. I’ve never been to this food truck and the wonderful cooks pointed out there dishes for me to choose from, being vegetarian and not liking spice to much I was a little hesitant, but no doubt this was the best Thai dish I’ve had in years. I travel a lot for work and I wasn’t not supposed to even come to Eugene but in the way home from Cali I was told to stop by from a co worker of mine, who rants and raves about it so I had to give it a try. THANK my stats that I did, cause this is hands down the one if the most amazing Curry plates, that’s I’ve had the pleasure of tasting. Oj the Owner was there to give me a full run down of what dishes I would like and even let me sample the curry that I ended up getting before I ordered it. Let me just say, the way the Penang Curry, lies gently on top of the jasmine rice, playing nicely with the blend and melody of the Basil and Kick, really magnified in the authentic aurora of that beautiful read curry. Chiayo really was a great stop on my business trip. They made me feel very welcomed to the city and even gave me a view spot near by to...
Read moreThis place is, without a doubt, the best Thai food in town. It's no contest. I am somewhat of a Thai food enthusiast at this point, having tried nearly every Thai restaurant in town on a particularly regular basis, and this place easily takes it over all others. Not only is it the best Thai food in town, but I think it's some of the best food in town in general. It's an act of blasphemy that it was not recognized on this year's Eugene Weekly for the Thai food, or food truck categories. I will stand by this opinion.
Update as of 8/4: not only is the food incredible, but these people are great and take their customers seriously. I had an issue with my food and they offered for me to have a free replacement which I picked up two days after the issue took place. If I could leave another 5 star review, I would. One of my favorite places in town, even over most sit-down...
