So, I have limited expectations of fast food restaurants in general. Dairy Queen is one that I do enjoy every now and then. Even as a fine dining chef I am not that picky. I like a good burger. I ate at this location a couple weeks ago and I must say the outcome was absolutely appalling from any sort of a food handling standpoint. I was not in the kitchen so I cannot say for sure what happened. Either poor handwashing, poor sanitation practices, or cross contamination, or they held the food beyond its allotted hold times. Or worse a combination of factors if not all of the ones listed above. I woke up the next morning so horribly ill that I was in the bathroom for two hours with diaharria and very intense vomiting. Later in the day my wife also became incredibly sick, but not quite as bad as I was. I had definite salmonella. A really intense foodborne illness that comes with poor hygiene sanitation habits. More than likely someone took a dump and chose not to use soap or wash their hands at all. Yes, it's pretty disgusting. It can also occur when raw chicken comes into contact with other foods. Where this becomes even more appalling is that we called them the next day to report it. Didn't ask for a comp or a refund. Just reporting it for their own safety practices to be reevaluated. We were asked what our order was and told we would get a call back. They never did. They wrote the whole thing off as though they didn't care. I have hired dishwashers with more common sense than to make people violently ill. All of this information and how to stop the spread of it is basic food handling procedures. That test is stupidly easy to pass. It is all common knowledge. This is a pretty big indicator of poor management. And to not even bother calling someone you made sick back is an outright disgrace to even the fast food industry. So in otherwords, someone literally fed me traces of their own fecal matter and nobody there seems to think that is wrong. Never again will I eat at this location.
A note to the highly immature staff as I see I am not the only person to recieve rude in your face style service. Salmonella literally kills people. So snicker and laugh away, because voluntary manslaughter is so f*ing funny isn't it? 26,500 cases of salmonella hospitalized yearly. About 420 of those every year will die. I hope you all get fired and replaced with competent kindergarteners who will do your jobs better than you ever could. Your job isn't even hard, so to be smug about it is like being the smartest kids with...
Read moreThe food is as always, delicious because all fast food is. Service was good, however...weird experience in the drive-thru.
I experienced what can only be described as aggressive tip soliciting. It honestly has me perplexed because who in the heck tips fast food in the drive-thru?? I wasn't waited on in a sit down restaurant, I wasn't served at a table. I was in the freaking drive-thru of an assembly-line fast food chain store!
In what world is it appropriate for the cashier to be asking for tips at a DQ in the drive-thru on an order under $10 when they only thing they did was the basic functions of their job?
And it wasn't just that a tip was asked for, it was asked for in a very direct manner, like the cashier assumed I'd roll over and add a tip. "It'll be $7.10...unless you want to add a tip?" And then the cashier just eyeballed me daring me to say no. And the little shock of surprise when I had the audacity to actually say, "Sorry, not today."
It felt expected and not a little confrontational.
DQ River Road, are you underpaying your crew? If you're trying to drive away customers, congratulations...I'm gone.
Edited to respond to "- DQ Fan Relations Team": #1, I'm not a "fan", I was a customer. Big freaking difference and it's just weird you call your customers "fans". Ick.
#2, Your feedback form, the one you directed me to, asks way too personal of questions. I'm not giving you that...
Read moreOrdered two, 6 piece chicken strips baskets. The order was not read back to us. The order was completely wrong. Never checked the order, charged us for items that we never received that was paid for. We both ordered and paid for 2 white country gravy, each. Total of 4 white country gravies! My friend had 1 white country gravy in hers. And I had salsa/chili sauce in mine. Apparently, the chili sauce/salsa comes in the same Styrofoam cup as the country gravy.?? Neither one is written on the Styrofoam as to what they are!! Didn't know salsa came with the chicken strips meal? Their salsa hurt my stomach. Called them. No answer, was trying to call for 2 1/2 hours. Nothing. There really needs to be an adult, that oversees these young, employees. The employees should be repeating the orders back, and double checking the orders as it's being prepared. Very disappointing. The chicken strips were small. When paying for almost $16 for the chicken strip basket, that's without a drink too. Disappointed with this Dairy Queen location. Talked to the manager on Monday, morning. Her attitude, rude and unprofessional. I explained what happened with our order, and her comment was, "What do you want me to do about it?" No...
