April 19th, 2024: Horrible experience of discrimination.
I have an incurable neurological disability, Parkinson’s, that causes visible tremors. I was at the end of a bike ride and feeling low blood sugar so I stopped at Viva for something to eat. I had $10 in $2 bills (didn’t have my actual wallet on me, you can just ask for $2 bills from the bank). I was the only person at Viva and ordered my usual, tempeh tacos. I handed employee $10 in cash and they questioned, “Is this money even real?” They then quickly stuffed $2 into the tip jar (!!), gave me back $8, and told me that I did not have enough money to get the meal. Then they walked out of sight to where I couldn’t easily talk to them. I waited a minute but ultimately I chose not to confront the person because my body pretty much shuts down when I’m stressed out (unfortunately, life with a neurodegenerative disease).
This is theft. Will never support this business again even though I have been going here for over a decade. I carefully counted my cash before I left home on my bike ride, counted again when I paid. Yes, my hands were tremoring because of Parkinson’s and maybe they assumed I was a weirdo on drugs but I am totally blown away by the lack of compassion and outright theft. I am totally sober and just suffer from a lesser known neurological condition but what if I WAS an addict, with only $10 to buy some food? It shouldn’t matter. So...
Read moreHello, I had been eating at this location for many years and was looking forward to it before coming back from Alaska, recently. It has always been the best, hottest and Juiciest fulfilling Vegetarian food I've ever had. I've always loved eating a Soft Serve cone, whilst awaiting my fresh made goodies. All that said, unfortunately my experience there on Friday (7/12/24) was really bad. I had burnt rice and smaller portions that were not made with Love. No judgement, just observation. The fella whom I believe owns /runs the Cart (red hair/glasses) has always hooked me up with satisfactory food. However, there was a new younger fella whom I never saw before. He had the ice-cream machine down, during the hottest weekend and charged me for a tea that had a squirmy wormlike thing, floating on the top. I left it there, disgusted and only with a partial refund. In fact, what's even worse is the attitude of both the employee and the owner. He has always had a terrible attitude, however his food was at least good. Not now. Even good things,...
Read moreI had an amazing dining experience at Viva Vegetarian Grill. We ordered the house-made chili fries with cashew cheese, the tempeh tacos, and enjoyed some African Red tea.
The house-made chili fries were a delight, and the cashew cheese added a rich, creamy texture. The tempeh tacos were bursting with flavor and creativity, a true vegan treat. The African Red tea was a refreshing choice to accompany our meal.
We opted to dine in, and our experience was made even better by the exceptional service provided by Cody. He was not only friendly but also quite funny, making our meal even more enjoyable. Cody went the extra mile by offering valuable recommendations for local vegan restaurants and nearby parks, making us feel like we were part of the community.
