TLDR; Visit the downtown location for better service, we received some of the worst service we've had in years this past weekend.
We have been fans of Pizza Joint for two years frequenting both this location and the downtown one. They have great pizza and before this past Saturday we always had decent to great service. Unfortunately, the service we received Saturday night was some of the worst I've ever had leaving the entire table in shock. I'll make a very long story short and give the last part that left such a bad taste in our mouths and frankly embarrassed that we had taken guests out of town here. We had some generally bad service especially for an basically empty restaurant (us and 1 other currently dining table in the whole place minus a few bar patrons). When we went to go pay the bill out of the 5 of us, my bf and I paid together with card, 1 other paid with card, and two paid with cash. Our server collected the cash first (where one our friends told her to just keep the change since she didn't have her wallet and didn't want to carry the loose change) and then came back a little bit later and picked up the cards. When she came and picked up the cards, she stopped and asked us all what we did for a living, this seemed a bit odd to us since she hadn't tried to talk to us the entire time other than now. We went around the table saying what we did with one of us saying they worked in a restaurant and the another saying they worked at Vogle. She waits until we all answer back and says "Oh so you (the friend from out of town who works at a restaurant) know how difficult it is working in a restaurant, how hard of a job it is since you don't make a lot" (All of this in an incredibly condescending tone by the way). Before anyone could reply she starts handing out the cards and goes "Well maybe you Mr. Big Vogle Man can help your friends out since 37 cent is not acceptable." and turns around and walks off. We were all left stunned, we had discussed while we waiting what we should tip since the service was god awful but the table was in majority to tip above the expected amount since thought she was just having a rough day, that is until she said that. As we left she yells to us to "I hope y'all have a wonderful night!" super condescendingly and proceeds to bust out laughing with another employee as we leave. I'm all for being petty where petty is due but all this server did was lose a tip other than the 37 cent, leave our out of town guests questioning why we took them to such a rude restaurant, and left my bf and I never wanting to visit the Evans location again. Tip: the wait might be slow at the downtown location but at least...
Read moreI've been to the downtown Augusta location numerous times and enjoyed it, so my expectations were high when I walked into this location for a dinner date. As soon as we walked in, the hosts greeted and seated us. For over 10 minutes, we weren't greeted by any of the servers. I brought this to the attention of the hosts and we were eventually greeted. I understand why this happens; tables are rotated and sometimes servers aren't aware that their sections have changed. No big deal! However, it seemed our server was a bit flustered about this whole ordeal, and as such, they were incredibly rude throughout our entire date.
They barely checked on our table, and when they did, they would make passive-aggressive comments about little things such as us asking for a refill for our drinks or asking to split our check. They didn't ask if we wanted to pay altogether or separate, and assumed that we wanted one check. When they placed the one check on our table, we asked if we could split it. Right when we requested that, they literally snatched the receipt right off the table...scared us both!
When I ate at the downtown location, I ordered a small PJ margherita pizza, and it had extra virgin olive oil, globs of fresh mozzarella, fresh basil, and everything you'd expect from one. I'm not sure if it's because I ordered the same pizza by the slice this time, but there wasn't the same globs of fresh mozzarella that I expected; in its place were diced cubes of mozzarella that were barely melted onto the pizza. The dough didn't seem cooked enough, and it wasn't as crisp as the pizza I've had downtown. There was no basil on it, either. My date enjoyed her slice of pepperoni and slice of cheese pizza, though...honestly, I was a little jealous! Our bruschetta was delicious, too.
However, since I personally didn't enjoy the pizza nor the service, I wouldn't recommend this location unless you're willing to risk putting up with awful service and potentially...
Read moreMe and my husband have been coming to this location for a while. Never had a problem until last night. My husband ordered a beer on draft and I did as well. When we received our drinks. My beer looked flat and it tasted flat. Hardly any bubbles. My husband even tried it. Well the waitress came over and I told her about it. She said she would tell the bartender. Again the waitress came back with the same beer and yet flat again. There was hardly any bubbles. The waitress asked me do you want the michelob in the bottle? I said I'd rather have draft beer. So I had order a Miller Lite on draft. Same ordeal with that one. At this point I'm frustrated. Again the waitress said I will go get the Manger. I said ok. Well the manager walks up.i could tell she already had a attitude. The Manger said the waitress told me you were having problems with beer. I said yes this is the 3rd one the first two were the same and both were flat and ordered a different and it was flat. The manager says Well I have been pushing beer out all night and this is first I'm hearing about this. The Manger says do you want it in a bottle? I said no. What others do you have on draft? She said well we have 56 different ones. I said well what are lite beers. Shhe named them off. I said I'll have the coors lite. The manger says do you want it in the bottle? I said no i want the draft. Like i just told her i wanted draft beer. She grabbed the beer off the table and she she rolled her eyes when she walked off. The manager not one time apologized. Another thing is its not my problem that you been pushing beer out all night and no one has said anything about it been flat and also I'm not going to drink flat beer. If I wanted to drink bottled beer I would drink it at my house. They need to check their kegs!!!! And need...
