Eh…. Used to love it, wrote a 5* review a few years ago, but no longer. At issue: One Large Hawaiian and one XL veggie pizza is our typical order. Before recent inflation it was close to $50. But, it would be a treat, and we’d love the tradition of picking up the two big boxes in winter and carrying them out into the cold with the hot pizza steaming through the box and into the car, smelling wonderful pizza all the way home. But that’s where the joy has ended. Something has changed. If these were super pizzas, with memorable crust, sauce, something we could grab onto we would, so could justify the expense. Aside from overinflated prices, Gigios has crust problems-the crust has no flavor and worst of all the center of the pizzas have been mush, the crust is not being cooked all the way through. The undercooked crust problem is especially detrimental when it comes to large and extra large pizzas (regular, not deep dish). So, while the outside edges may be done and crispy/ chewy, the inner 2/3 of the pizza is mush and slimly. The 2/3 tip of the triangle slide of pizza will flop down and the toppings slide off—$50 for mush..we’re disappointed. Rolled the pizza up into a ball and threw it out. We brought it to their attention 2x. No change. The only way around that I can see is when I get home to to take a few pieces to each and cook them in the oven until they’re properly done. But that’s effort I’m not willing to do when I’m ordering in and regardless, it doesn’t resolve the bland, tasteless crust issue. We haven’t found a new, convenient pizza place yet, but we are enjoying the surprisingly good frozen Home Run pizzas — they have excellent, tasty crusts that have a little bit of corn meal in, tasty sausage like my Italian neighbor made, and the pizza holds together and doesn’t fall apart.
What’s good at Gigios is fast, efficient staff, clean store.
Good luck — I still love the retro clock in...
Read moreWell I had high hopes. I used to come here years ago and it was great! I grab a slice when I came back from the beach and that would be my dinner. And it was delicious. This was anything but. After I gave the man my money I was able to see over the counter. There was four pizzas literally sitting out in the open uncovered completely dried out. I thought there's no way that this is going to be what my slices are coming from. Sadly it was. These dried out pies were uncovered, able to collect dust dirt and spit from anyone that was talking around them. Don't even get me started in the cleanliness of the place. I thought maybe looks are deceiving and it'll be better than I thought. He had put the pizzas to reheat them in the pizza oven. So I thought maybe we have a chance. Absolute tasteless garbage! The slices were completely undercooked and soggy. Please notice the pictures I took. The vegetarian slice had caramelized onions on it. Who puts caramelized onions on pizza?? You could clearly Taste of the vegetables were not fresh. It was about the only thing you could taste. The rest of it was Bland tasteless junk. Absolutely no flavor to the sauce, the cheese was nondescript and dried out. After seeing different reviews I could see that whoever owns or manages the place thinks he's funny and likes to have little quips and comments for any negative review. I think you should save the time from commenting, and instead apply that energy and effort to creating better tasting pies. This place is horrible. I threw both pieces out. Massive...

We were on our way to the Halim Time & Glass Museum in Evanston which I highly recommend. We had just about half an hour for a quick bite before the 1pm tour so popped into Gigio's for a quick bite.
This counter service spot offers a traditional Chicago menu with must have classics, Italian Beef, dogs, pizza by the slice and more.
We decided on pizza by the slice and a bowl of Clam Chowder. All tasted really good! The line was long and the place was busy but they moved fast and we had our food in under 10 minutes.
The Pizza was hot and tasty and the clam chowder, though thin broth, also tasted great and full of large clams.
Gigio's is right across from a great European bakery if you want to finish off with a dessert.
Or lunch was so tasty we headed back to Gigio's for dinner. Chilli cheese totts and an Italian beef made for an affordable dinner at only $18 including sodas. The portions were very large and the beef plentiful on the sandwich.
Gigio's is just a couple blocks from the Davis street station so it's easy to get to. If you are treking out to Evanston be sure to also check out the FEW distillery tour and sampling as well as the the...
