WORST RAMEN IN ILLINOIS

I'm editing my review because I returned to this place and brought my family that was visiting us since it was very good the first time I came but this time the food was TERRIBLE.

To start, we ordered edamame, and we got edamame with sugar. Of course, somebody made a mistake, I thought. So I told the waitress and she took our plates and brought back edamame with salt this time. However, they washed the other edamames and put salt on them, so I could still feel a bit of sweetness. Anyway, I didn't make a big deal or of it.

Then, our ramen came and my wife and sister in law clearly ordered a no spicy ramen because they don't eat spicy and they were going to share that with the little ones. And guess what? They got spicy ramen. They tried to eat it, but it was too spicy for them, so they asked the waitress to get the non spicy ramen they had ordered. The waitress took the bowls and after some time she came back with some new bowls. All they did was to throw away the spicy broth, and then put the regular broth in the same bowl, so they could still feel the spicy flavor that the rest of the food has absorbed. We all were very hungry, so they added some water to it and ate it that way.

Finally, my nephews were also very hungry and they are about 70% of their bowls of ramen and they mentioned a few times that it was salty, but since they were eating it I thought they were good. However, before we left I took their leftovers for the next day. When I finally was going to eat that I couldn't eat it because it was extremely salty! It was as if I was drinking sea water. Extremely DISGUSTING. I immediately felt really bad for the kids as I didn't notice anything because I did order a spicy ramen and that was all I could feel at the time.

I don't know what happened to this place but I'm obviously never...

Best-tasting Ramen I've found in Evanston. However, the service is nearly non-existent and the hours are a mess.

2 of the 3 times I've visited I've left without food.

My first time was great, the food was delicious and my group were dying to return.

The second time I was there there was a glitch with the ordering system. Everyone's order went through but mine. By the time we realized this it was far too late to re-order. This isn't the restaurant's fault entirely, but the ordering system is bad.

The third time I walked in and ordered only to later realize that the restaurant was completely empty. It was bizarre. I had already submitted my order and was heading to the bathroom when I noticed the place was deserted. No one responded when I called out. According to the sign on the door it was active business hours. I tried calling the restaurant's contact number and got no answer.

The hours are inconsistent. I asked an employee if they were open Tuesday and they couldn't answer.

Like I said earlier, the ordering system is bad and ultimately the restaurant's service is bad. You don't order from a server, but have to scan a QR code at the table. The system is laggy and if a group is entering their order at the same time there's a chance someone's items won't be properly added to the cart.

It's a shame because I loved their ramen, but probably won't go back because there are so many problems with basic service.

Edit: I received a refund for my order so I added a star. The food was really good. Unfortunately the service was...

I'm a huge ramen fanatic. I don't know if there's a ramen shop I haven't been to in Chicago, and I get it wherever I travel. I can honestly say this place makes some of the most enjoyable bowls I've had.

And it's for a few reasons:

Most ramen I've had (and this is usually a good thing) kind of blends into one cohesive flavor. These bowls, on the other hand, eat like a full meal: each component has a distinct flavor and temperature, and is exactly what you'd want it to be if you were eating it by itself. It's super enjoyable

It's fresh. I heard the cook actually chopping/frying/sauteeing things when my order came through. Most places just kind of assemble the bowl - this place cooks things fresh. For example, it was clear that the ground beef in my spicy miso was raw when I ordered, and they cooked it on the spot.

Ambiance is just really enjoyable.

So yeah, it's a different kind of bowl, but it's amazing. Absolutely worth the stop or trip. Five stars...

This was an interesting restaraunt. I mean that in a sincere way. When my wife and I entered there was nobody to seat us and the chef hard at work in the kitchen by himself. A regular restaraunt patron may find this strange and for a moment I did too until I realized that is because we have come to expect immediate gratification from restaraunts. Though I enjoyed the moment of calm so I could take in the awesome atmosphere. This place is the real deal. This is a real small business with some of the healthiest tasting ramen I think I've ever had. If you're looking for junk food, this isn't going to be your spot, but hear me out. This bowl of noodles is big with some really subtle flavor that is really rather pleasant. The tea comes from the Kung Fu Tea next door and the thai tea was solid. I've had a lot of different ramen spots in my day but I was happy with my meal because I left full without clogged arteries.

I went in with every intention to eat ramen, but changed my mind to try their pork bun vermicelli noodle salad because I was too hot and sweaty to eat soup that day. It was pretty tasty. In addition to the bun vermicelli noodle salad, they also sell ramen, pho, don, fried rice, and Kung Fu Tea from next door. I was too full to try their desserts. Customer service was excellent. I’d go back. *edit* Went back a couple more times and tried their chicken pho and ramen. Chicken pho was average. Ramen was not bad. Chashu was not as tender as I’m used to for ramen. I’d give it 3.9/5. Still a good eats spot, plenty of self-pay parking out front, decent pricing for Evanston, and solid customer service.

Honestly, I can't wait to go again. The waitress was really nice and helped us a lot with what to order. I got an order of gyoza and the Waygu Beef Ramen and it was so delicious. Buttery and spicy! The store is decorated really cute and they have a projector to show anime. They offer milk teas from Kung Fu Tea right next door and three dessert options: Japanese cheesecake, mochi and tiramisu. Please go support them! It's delicious!
