Save yourself and just go to Olive Garden. We did a pick up order today. Its been awhile since we've come here, or placed a pick up order. The last few times we were here we did not have good experience (shells left on the shrimp, sour sauce, dry / stale bread). However, my fiance loves the Baked Ziti Alforno and its been awhile and he has been craving it so we decided to do a take out. I placed an order online to pick up from work, normally when I order online I have the ability to request or make comments on the items being ordered. However this website does not allow for "comments" / "requests", etc. That is totally fine, all places have different sites and POS. So since I ordered with plans to pick the order up after work, I called to inquire on a request regarding the order since I was not able to do it online. The young lady that answered the phone was super nice and was able confirm that the request was ok. My fiance loves the bread with the oil and cheese, and I usually have to ask for additional bread and goods. Well I got home with the food. He was so excited because it has been about 6-8 months since we've had Biaggi's, he started to dig in just to find out he had TONS of Noodles and very little sauce. The more he tried to stir it up to try to mix in the sauce that falls to the bottom, but there was not any. It was mainly just melted cheese clumps and oil. Normally the Baked Ziti Alforno has creamy savory sauce, but this plate seemed to have extremely little. The noodles were dry and weird since it was basically oil and clumpy cheese. He was so upset that the food was not the way it was supposed to be, so I called to let them know that the Sauce is NOT good and what was going on it with. The manager on duty took the call and I let him know about the food. He then interjected rudely and cut me off and said, are you the online order that called to request the bread and meals to be separated. I said yes, there is no options online that allow you to make comments or requests like other restaurants allow you to when placing an online order, so I called. He then inquired about the food problem so I again let him know about the sauce. My fiance was upset and loud in the background about how it is dry, burned, oily and cheese clumpy, but no real actual sauce on the noodles. The manager on duty then became condescending again and short due to the fact that he could hear him in the background. Yes you can hear the person in the same room as me, that happens when you are on the phone. Let alone when you talk down to people, and they are trying to let you know about an issue, it does not help. The manager is young and needs to learn to not be condescending with customers and listen and ask questions that will allow him to understand. Do not say well I want to address this and offer a $25 off coupon or an address to send something. No! I do not want you to have my personal info, just to get a few dollars off... NO. And do not ask me to come back in to have it fixed. Its a pick up... most people with pick ups have a decent drive. I want you to be aware that something is not right in the kitchen. The food does not look or taste right. There is something wrong with the sauce. Take it seriously. No one will pay that kind of money for mediocre tasteless food. One reason we rarely go in, because the service is here is not good. Save yourself and go to Olive Garden. We will never be back. Which is fiance by me. Italian is not my...
Read moreAh, Biaggi's! Such a fine Italian restaurant! If you're looking for authentic Italian cuisine with a laid back atmosphere, this is the place for you. The restaurant is connected to another building on one side but displays a beautiful brick and rock design along the other sides. The outside was well maintained, clean, and well decorated. The parking lot is shared, but is in good condition. Upon entry you are greeted by a host to the left behind an immaculate dark wooden bar. The floors are dark hardwood tracing the outsides with a white designed tile on the insides. The rear dining area is carpeted and the 'Wine Room' has a separate grey marbled tile flooring with a lighter wood wine wall and a beautiful light brick wall. There wasn't very much We were seated immediately and served promptly there after. We received slices of fresh baguettes and their house-made focaccia bread with an olive oil and parmesan dipping saucer. The baguette was good, but their focaccia was out of this world! One bite transported me around 3000 kilometers from there to the heart of Italy! For an appetizer, we ordered 'Calamari Fritti' which came with marinara sauce, Italian salsa, calamari, and various fried vegetables like green and red peppers and cauliflower. It was delectable to say the least! We followed that up with 'Crab -Stuffed Cod,' 'Fettuccini with Lobster,' and a glass of 'Gewürztraminer.' The cod was very soft and flavourful especially with the bits of crab stuffed inside. The sauce and crusted seasonings atop put my taste buds into overdrive. The fettuccini was a black fettuccini, which simply means that it is flavoured and dyed with the ink of either a squid or cuttlefish. This ink adds a beautiful black hue to the pasta as well as a sweet and salty flavour that complimented the lobster and sauce. The lobster was plentiful with large chunks and the sauce was magnifico! To compliment my meal, I ordered a glass of German white wine. The gewürztraminer is made from a pink to red skin grape, giving it a drier and more floral flavour profile that helps with the high amounts of natural sugar. The service was amazing throughout the meal and everything was as authentic as you could get. The overall price was a little high, but we were buying seafood with pasta and wine. The quality was beyond amazing as well compared to the generous amount we received. We will definitely be back soon....
Read moreA Splendid Take on Traditional Italian Food!!
I was fortunate to dine at Biaggi's while in the area for business. I have stayed in that area of Evansville in the past and drove past Biaggi's a few times. I had always wanted to try it and I finally had my chance. I love Italian food and often on an extended trip I try to have at least one good Italian meal while I'm on the road. I had heard good things about Biaggi's and I couldn't wait to try it. I went on a Thursday night after working out at Evansville Crossfit, I was pretty hungry.
On this visit, I sat at the bar and looked over the menu for a few minutes until the bartender came over to help me with the menu and suggested the Garlic Shrimp Oreganata with garlic-oregano crusted oven-roasted shrimp, capellini pasta, tomato-basil sauce and since I hadn't had a good oreganata in a while so I was intrigued. If you're unsure what an oreganata is.. the Oreganata style is typically a mixture of breadcrumbs, dried oregano, butter or oil and garlic. Lemon and Parmesan are commonly added to the breadcrumb mixture for extra flavour. I rounded out my meal with the Biaggi's famous Sherry Tomato soup, tomato soup with...well you guessed it, sherry and housemade croutons. Next up was a spinach salad with red onion, gorgonzola cheese, bacon, hard-boiled egg, sun-dried and tomato-bacon dressing.
The soup was a great starter, it had a creaminess to it, but still had a great tomato flavour and texture to it. The salad was fresh and the spinach was firm and solid, with no wilted pieces in it. The complexity of all the ingredients blended together made it a very enjoyable salad but leaning a bit on the higher calorie side of salads in general. My main course was absolutely a hit. The shrimp's batter was slightly crispy and the shrimp inside still had flavour. The capellini was cooked just right and the sauce tasted like a classic Italian tomato sauce. The fresh oregano and the lemon wedge really complimented the dish. The food was superb and the Chianti I ordered threw off the taste a little but all in all, this was a very enjoyable meal...
