Patsy Hartigan's is the definition of mid. I don't mean this in a bad way. They were exactly what they should have been when we went. I had fish and chips with a Guiness. The Guiness was perfect (as it always is), and the fish and chips was...adequate. There were two pieces that equated to basically four fish sticks but were obviously of much higher quality. The chips were not soggy but nor were they particularly crispy (Heston Blumenthal's "glass" chips spoiled me on other chips.). The dipping sauce for the fish was...dipping sauce. It didn't enhance the flavor nor did it detract from it. The coleslaw was neither offensive nor a standout. Everything needed salt- which is fine, because I'd rather need a quick dash of salt than have everything irrevocably over-seasoned. My husband's Reuben was on point, being moist, flavorful, and substantial. His chocolate double stout was not to my liking as a dinner accompaniment, but I think it would accompany their chocolate cake perfectly.
This is a place I would consider a "go-to" when no one can decide where to go, just go here. You know it's going to be consistently good. There was nothing that stood out but I've only tried those couple things, to be fair. I'm not sure I'd go back but if friends or family were going I'd have no problem joining them and would enjoy it. It's a tough business climate at present and I'm not 100% sure they will have what it takes to sustain in Evansville. This seems to be (at least to me who's only been here a scant three years) a place where new restaurants go to die, while there are lines around the block for Chik Fil A and other basic chain fare. I wish Patsy's the best and may possibly give them another try just to be as fair...
Read moreMUST BE 21+ TO ENTER I wanted to include that up front because I did not see it mentioned anywhere when I scrolled through the reviews. That said, myself and my 3 kids stopped in for lunch on a Thursday. The hostess and waitress were both very kind and offered us a booth. We did not see the signage about being over 21 until we were leaving, and no one said anything at all to us about it. I would not have chosen this place had I known. Restaurant owners, if you're reading this, thank you for your kindness and hospitality and I promise to not come back with the kids in the future 😅 The food....it was delicious. I ordered the Irish quesadilla and I will be back to order it again! It was so good! I also ordered Champ. I really don't know what I was expecting, but it is exactly as the description says. It was tasty and very filling. My kids ordered wings, fish and chips, and a chopped pub salad. It's important to note that there is no kids menu, which should have been a sign that they were not supposed to be there 🫠 All the kids ate their food and said it was good. The atmosphere and decor were exactly as you'd expect in an Irish pub. The place was clean, the booth was comfortable. I might try the patio...
Read moreWe arrived at 730. We were seated quickly, but that is where anything quick ended. We ordered drinks and the appetizer at the same time. When the appetizer finally came out. We ordered dinner. We finally asked where our food was,and the server replied that we had come on a "busy night". Not even half of the tables were full. Our drinks were not refilled until our appetizer plates were removed. We had 5 adults on our party, and informed the server, when we were seated, that one was pregnant and we needed food quickly. Our dinners finally came out, but only 3 of the 5. The server stated that the fish was being battered and dropped, when everyone else had their food. It was around 815 by this point. Our drinks were never refilled again and it took a lot of time to get our checks as well. It was 9pm before we left the restraunt. I called and asked to speak quth a manager. The manager argued about how long it took to get our food, stated it was 35 minutes on the dinner tickets, and then stated it was an "unusually busy night". He did not apologize for any of our issues, even after telling him I was a server as well. We were very...
