I really don't want to bash this place, I use to work around the corner and I use to live on Wetmore so I have been popping in here for the last few years but the experience I just had on the phone prompted me to go ahead and write this review. I was so excited to take my coworker there last night, I hyped this place up to her all day. Our experience was good, they are always so quick and our enchiladas were delicious. My boyfriend works night crew so I decided to get him the camerones a la crema to go. I asked for no rice since he doesn't like rice but when I came home to put in the fridge it had rice. No biggie I figured he could just eat around it. When he actually gets home and he's eating, he is finding just pieces of shrimp tail in the sauce not still connected to the shrimp but actual little bits of pieces just in the sauce. At this point he's pretty disappointed with his meal but whatever he is hungry right. As he continues to eat he bites down hard on what we can only assume is an uncooked bean(photo below) and it hurt his tooth. He doesnt even want to finish his meal after that. After being a long time customer and spending what I spent on dinner I decide to call the restaurant to at least explain our experience. Now I know you dont know me but I have been a customer service rep for years so I treat people the way I want to be treated on the phone. I am calm, kind, and respectful. A woman picks up, I say hi and ask if I can talk to her or maybe a manager to explain our experience..she stays silent and then says "I'm listening" first red flag for me but I proceed to explain to her what happened. I wasn't looking for a hand out and I wasn't looking for a refund of any kind I simply wanted them to know so that it wouldn't happen to other customers or us if we came back again. She says "thanks for letting us know I'll notify management." And that was it. No apology, no remorse. Nothing. Being a customer service rep I can't tell you the countless times I've had to apologize for a mistake that I didn't personally make but in the end if the place I worked did I apologized for it. It's about letting that customer feel heard and being empathetic to their situation. She sounded offended and annoyed that I'd even have the audacity to call and complain. I did not feel heard, I did not feel like I was taken seriously. It ultimately felt like a slap in the face. So unfortunately because of this experience we wont...
Read moreI would give 1 star rating if i could. I dont speak spanish but i love mexican food. I tried this restaurant for the first time and asked the waiter- Ricardo for assistance as i only eat chicken in meat. He directed me to the 4 chicken options and i chose one of them. While ordering i told Ricardo that i want the last one. He pointed the dish i asked for i and i said yes bcoz i already told him that i want the last one. And again, there were only 4 options in chicken and i told him i need the last one.. he got our order in 5 mints. As i saw my order it was chicken with cream. I was surprised to see it bcoz i didnt ordered that bcoz im lactus intolerant. I told Ricardo that i didnt know the order has cream in it coz it wasnt mentioned in the dish discription. He bought the menu and showned me the third dish out of 4 in the menu saying i ordered chicken with cream. I told him, no i told you i want the last one. I requested him to please change it to the one i ordered bcoz i cant eat cream. He told me 4 times that you ordered this dish and i told him, i can’t order that one coz the description clearly says it has cream in it and i cant have it. At the end, he said i will get you the dish you want but it will take 20-25 mints. I still said okay and i even apologized coz i felt bad first about the communication mixup. But the kind of attitude the waiter had towards it, i just asked for the check and left. And btw, the bill was a total of $75 for 2 drinks and 2 dishes. Out of which 1 was untouched. I cant review the food coz i didnt had it but the service was...
Read moreFirst time there will be my last time there. Got in at 5pm on a Thursday night, not very busy at all. The hostess was very sweet and seated my son's and I very promptly. It was her first day there according to her. Our waitress came by about 15 minutes later to take our drink orders. 5 minutes later we received our 2 Shirley temples and cup of coffee. After ordering our food, and stressing that I did not want zucchini and carrots in my carnitas de polo, we waited another 20 minutes to receive the food. Our waitress did not stop by our table one time after taking our order. A kitchen staff member and the hostess who seated us are the ones that brought out our food. The food was bland and not authentic by any means, plus it had the carrots and zucchini I had indicated very clearly that I do not want. We finished our food and waited another 15 minutes for our waitress to bring our check. I asked the hostess if we could get our check and the hostess indicated she would let our waitress know we were ready for the check. Well, she never came. The "first day on the job" hostess brought us our check and took our payment. I thanked her for her wonderful service. As we were leaving, our waitress came out of the kitchen and said "thanks for coming in" and then proceeded to our table to pickup whatever tip she thought was there. Needless to say, we did not leave her a tip. Our hostess on the other hand earned a tip, and our respect. Save yourself some time, frustration and wasted money on mediocre food..... go to Playa Bonita in...
