The lady and myself sat at the bar, assuming it to be slightly faster service, we were so hungry! Buuuuut... service was... rough. It was a "seat yourself' style restaurant., took about 5 minutes before they noticed we existed, not a huge deal. After we were very obvious that we were done looking over the menu... menu was sat in front of us and we were staring the waitress down expecting service...took about 10 more minutes before she came over. We were a little annoyed, but its not the end of the world here! And then we waited. And we waited. And we waited. 30 minutes later, the waitress said the food would be right out! WOOHOO! Were starving! And were waiting... and waiting... 15 minutes after she told us the food would be RIGHT OUT it was finally here. Were very understanding, relaxed, easy-going customers... but why the ** would you tell us it would be right out.... after 30 minutes... if its going to be another 15 minutes... VERY FRUSTRATED. We got the vintage dip and the swiss buger dip. And take this comment with the knowledge that... generally speaking... we rate food highly. This food was maaaybe 3/5. Swiss burger dip had NO seasoning. Even a little salt/pepper would have helped... and the vintage dip.. well... it tasted VINTAGE, the roast beef was quite dry. Our opinion of the food has nothing to do with the service. It was just... not all that great of food. The service was just the cherry on top. We sooo wanted to just tip the waitress like garbage... but we overheard the waitress complain to the manager that the kitchen is screwing up every order and having to remake everything and customers are waiting! Were not going to under-tip a waitress because of that! OMG that manager could NOT care less...
Long story short, we had a somewhat garbage experience here, and despite me thinking that this wonderful historic location has so much potential... it didnt meet my personal expectations... Hopefully they can step up their game and keep this iconic...
Read moreWell I regret to have to leave a review but find it warranted ..first the positive ...DYLAN ..OUR SERVER..give this guy a raise or promotion. The way he treated us and another table is the standard. He was prompted and attentive even though it looked like they needed more servers. He pushed thru it all and his attitude was the reason I felt to spotlight him. NOW, why I am writing this. I noticed when we walked in, a waitress with blond hair looked and said nothing as me and my friend ( a white woman) just stood there. She then proceeded to ask the people behind us..HOW MANY. .YES walking past us to the door and not asking us or even a meantion. So after sitting down awhile later and already noticing this, I continued to just see what really could be the deal. Maybe a accident, yet when another family came in that was of Island decent, they waited at the door for 15 mins before the same lady just told them to sit in a spot but then a white couple came in and spontaneously they were seated in less than the time it took for the door to shut. Actually greeted them. Then I sat there and looked as the family looked for the waitress, looking like they were ready to order because she had kids. Yet this same waitress went to the white couple and took their order and walked right past the family not asking were they ready. I like the establishment and I realize it is not the business but maybe the personnel. Dylan who was making kids laugh and making everyone of all looks comfortable and then you have this other lady that may have been having a bad day, I believe she conducted herself that would seem very rude to people with a different look or I will say darker tan. Dont know, just wanted to post a observation and a first hand account. Would I eat here again, yes to see if its a trend and the reason is cause of Dylan changing my mind with his service. Well the food...
Read moreSuch an unfortunate experience. The host didn’t greet us as we waked in and just threw us in a table by the door. The waitress then came over and asked about our drink order without making eye contact. While we were looking at the menu, I asked the waitress a question about a sandwich, to which again, no eye contact answers very quick and short. My cousin and I are both visibly muslim women and ordered items with (and we made this very clear) no pork products. After what felt like 20 mins, both of our sandwiches have ham and bacon… okay. Then our appetizers only came out after our sandwiches were being remade. The “loaded” fries were dried out and looked like they were microwaved with some cheddar thrown on. Then finally we get food and my (2nd) sandwich has no meat at all. I ordered a Monte Cristo, which is a Turkey sandwich. I asked the waitress if there was ham on the monte cristo and she said she didn’t know… then I asked the owner if I could speak to him, which he seemed apprehensive about and shouted at me from across the room, “what do you want?” to which I said, “could I speak to you for a moment please”. I asked him what came on a Monte Cristo and he responded “I don’t know”… how do you not know what’s on YOUR menu?? At this point I gave up and canceled my order. It was very inconsiderate of the waitress to not pay attention and then for the owner to not offer an alternative and say he was taking it off the bill as if that solves the issue??? Like why would I pay for a sandwich I didn’t/ couldn’t even eat. Not recommend for any POC/minority groups because this establishment is clearly only here to...
