Seen a new place for food up Evergreen near Casino RD for the past couple months, wasn't exactly sure when this Mochinut was going to open, but it peaked my curiosity. I went home and did a Google and got a mix bag of Youtube Reviews and what not, and this place seemed pretty unique.
So when I got the opportunity to come try it as this location finally opened up for a "Soft Open" I thought I would take a Sunday Morning to come check it out.
When I arrived this morning they were just opening up at 11am, no sign on the door showing their hours but on google it say they open at 11am, and since it also said on the store window "Soft Opening" since September 9th, it made a little sense.
Going into the establishment, there was only me and a maybe a handful of others, mostly everyone seemed to come for the Mochinuts or "Donut" ish. Anyways, not too much of a selection, but understandable under the circumstances. The place is nice for a sit-down restaurant , however when looking on the sign it shows a 49 person limit for capacity. So if you are planning to come by when it fully opens during the week and if it's busy, you might have to take it to go.
My Order was a Peach and two Dirty Churro's for the Mochinut and two half Mozzarella half Dog, Potato Dog. The Kiosk didn't work yet or wasn't up and running but someone nice did ring me up, it came to $31.48.
It took a little bit of time to get my food, but all in all under the circumstances an understandable wait.
The Food, got home and pretty much gave it a shot.
The Mozzarella Dogs maybe it's just me, seemed a bit underdone, the Mozzarella Texture was a little slimy rather than savory, it didn't taste like a Mozzarella stick or a Corndog really. The hot dog tasted alright. Maybe it was just me but for me I would rate the Potato Dog 2 out of 10.
The Mochinuts, First time trying these as well and I knew going in from reviews it wasn't going to be exactly like a Donut, that said, they were pretty alright. The Dirty Churro, was pretty good, the texture even though it wasn't a donut was alright, not as good as a donut, but 5 out 10. The Peach Mochinut was a 6 out of 10. This is not a donut, but it's pretty good, maybe nutrition wise it's healthier than a donut, i don't know, if it's not and you like Donuts this ain't it, if it's healthier than a Donut, then this is a great substitute.
Anyways if you aren't interested in everything up top.
TLDR. Mochinut is a new place in town, worth stopping in and trying out, my experience was a "Soft Open" but over all just wasn't for me and even if it was the price of $31.00 isn't something I would pay often if I did or versus a few...
Read moreA very pleasant surprise! At first I was concerned about the relative lack of variety, the overwhelming amount of "sweet" (it's even offered on the rice dogs as "recommended"), and the pricier-than-expected costs of items. However, those fears were laid to rest.
I had the potato-coated rice dog with a brown sugar milk boba and a jade mochi donut, and it was, in a word, life-changing. The sweet isn't overwhelming, the crisp of the potato paired with the savory of the sausage and the sweet of the coating, the fresh-baked flavor of the soft donut... Just, too good.
Definitely coming back here! Be prepared to shell out though; a single donut is like $3.50, the drinks & dogs average $7.50 for the no-frills versions, and you're not going to see any "combo" specials. Thankfully the portions are commensurate, the staff is friendly, and the store is clean, so it's...
Read moreThe staff is friendly. They have several mochinut flavors to try and the staff is helpful if you're not sure which ones to get. The atmosphere is cheerful and inviting. They have a lot of space and the vibe is fresh and fun. The restaurant was clean. Our order of 3 mochinuts and a drink only took a couple of minutes. We enjoyed the mochinuts very much and the pineapple coconut drink is delicious. We had leftover mochinuts the next day and they were just as good. They were cooked well and had a wonderful crispy and chewy mouthfeel. We've now been to a couple locations and the Everett location is our favorite. The parking lot gets a little crazy around dinner time but that is not Mochinut's fault. Just be prepared to be patient finding parking at...
