Meh.
In summary I think my review is influenced on two things: “Assuming” the menu photo and prices from 4 months ago were up to date (they weren’t), and that the food didn’t leave a lasting impression on me. More of me blabbing below if you’re interested:
I had expected to pay $5.99 for a Banh Mi and it ended up being $7.99, and the rice dishes, noodles, Pho, etc.. all ended up being more money than I expected by a few bucks each. So at checkout I was a little concerned they had my order wrong, but they didn’t. It was just a few bucks times 4 entrees that equaled the extra $12 bucks or so. (I am all for folks raising prices and getting/giving a living wage BTW) But, I’ll probably choose an alternative next time due to the pricing and lack of tastebud “wow” moments in our first experience with Yummy Banh Mi.
Our Order for takeout:
Banh Mi : I got the pork and egg option and the bread was descent, but the problem was it was REALLY dry inside. No spicy vinegar, sauce, or Mayo to be found. 2.5 star out of 5.
Pho: Ordered the large Chicken and it was MEH. To be honest it’s really hard to muck this one up. (I think?) 3 out of 5 star rating.
Bun Bowl : Lemongrass Chicken - the seasonings/flavors of the chicken were good on this dish. However the texture was a little weird. 3.5 Star out of 5.
Chicken Curry: This was the worst offender of the order. Just really flavorless yellow chicken and veggies on rice. 1 star out of 5.
Lastly, I’m not sure which if any or All of these dishes were microwaved but I definitely heard the microwave alarm bell and that “signature” microwave door slam sound as they were making my order so ….. (perhaps it was the curry..) Definitely a red flag for me at a restaurant (Call me strange..)
If you’re in a pinch and need some food than by all means go here. You’ll have friendly service and an accurate order being made for you. But, If you have options and you’re looking for something that you’ll “crave” to come back for, than I’d continue to look for suitable alternatives.
Sorry Yummy Banh Mi, we just aren’t going to work out. Please leave me a note if you change your ways and I’ll try you...
Read moreService was the better part of my experience, quite friendly. Lacking attention at the register though. Atmosphere was meh, Cold inside, Cleanliness was questionable as the table was sticky. Food portion for the price ($10), like many things these days are not good. Selected the Beef Banh Mi. Meet was hardly noticeable to the size of the sandwich bread used, but the meat was tender and with good flavor. The pickled veggie's (Carrots, Cilantro, Cucumber) were not cut well and made it hard to enjoy, but the flavor was spot on and made it fresh tasting. The baguette bread was soft on the inside and flakey with a good crunch on the outside, the right choice for this sandwich. The mayo sauce was hardly noticeable.
I will try again to see if they were off on that day. If it does not then...
This is not a 10$ Banh Mi, I would tolerate it more if it was more like 6-7$.
I was able to replicate this at home with the pickled and properly cut veggie's, similar portioned flavored beef, and of course the proper baguette, for about, maybe under 2$. Those that experienced this with me said my attempt was better than what was presented at Yummy. Was I a bit too critical? With todays internet, we really need to start cooking more at home and stop paying so much for convenience. This sandwich was quite...
Read moreOverall best in downtown Everett from what I have tried. A fantastic option to get a bite, I got a pork banh mi and the meat was perfectly cooked and flavorful the bread was crisp but not burnt or anything, I personally don't like sauce but they had a superb white sauce they used on it that didn't overwhelm. I also got a large brisket and meatball pho which turned out super good not sure about the price to size portion as I haven't gotten the small for comparison but still the food was super tasty and worth the price to me. Definitely by far the best pho place near me so far. I also was impressed by the speed I called in takeout at 4:25 and it was ready by 4:30. The takeout boxes are usually messy piles of stuff but this was nicely organized and the Siracha and Hoisin sauce were in separate containers (too many pho places...
