It is clear there are not a lot of other barbecue places to eat around here, because they sure don’t try very hard. I had the tri-tip meal with macaroni and cheese and baked beans. The food wasn’t bad, but not good either…clearly was not worth almost $30. And I did not even order a drink. Oh, and that reminds me, when I asked for a cup of water, they said they don’t have tapwater and pointed at the cooler with drinks to buy. If I’m gonna pay to eat out for lunch, I often do not want to spend another 3 to 5 dollars for a drink. Not having the option for a free tapwater at a restaurant is pretty crazy to me. but it’s their restaurant so they can do whatever they want. And I will not be going back either. The customer service had an attitude of “…don’t bother me. I had a bad day.” There is nothing worse than eating a meal when all you can think about is how the food quality does not match the $28-30 price, and the customer service is similar to a fast food restaurant. I am sure they have a loyal following of a handful of repeat customers, and they’ll always have a steady supply of first-time and only-time customers.

Decent brisket and pulled pork for the PNW but super dry pork ribs. To clarify as the owner said below - brisket and pork were a bit on the bland side and not up to par with other bbq spots up here. Also check out other responses from him. Big thing to note is many of their sides (coleslaw, beans, etc) are made using a premade mix as their base (confirmed by the cashier I had when asking about scratch made sides). The two sides I had which were scratch made (corn bread and potato salad) were solid. To make it worse their bbq sauce uses sweet baby rays as a base to it. Pretty easy to identify given the sauce tasted like it had high fructose corn syrup in it and confirmed when I walked by the kitchen on the way to the bathroom. I'm fine with the meats being not as good as spots in the Texas and other parts of the south. However, the use of premade sauce as a base and not all sides being made from scratch takes away from the experience. Far better places in the area for a similar price point.

First timers. We called to get carry-out on Monday but they were closed Monday and Tuesday. So we called back on Wednesday. It was worth the wait! We got our food within 30 minutes and it was amazing. We ordered the 3x3. Three types of meat and three types of sides. We got the ribs, brisket, and pulled pork with beans, mac&cheese, and potato salad. We also added on cornbread. The meat all came in one container, the sides in their own container, and one container of cornbread w/ cinnamon butter. She even through in an extra middle piece of corn bread. We received three containers of bbq sauce. It was packaged neatly so nothing spilled, which I was grateful for. We took the food home, probably eating about 20 minutes later. The food was still fresh and so delicious. Some of the best BBQ we've had and we've had BBQ all over the country. I'm really impressed with the service and the food. Hopefully when quarantine is over we can actually go and eat in person. Please support this local business!

Excellent Texas-style bbq! I had the brisket and 2 sides

The brisket was a generous, meaty portion cut from the flat with a balanced amount of fat cap remaining - salt, pepper, smoke and time, just as J&L described - delicious. IMO, quality every bit as much as Jeff's in Marysville

I opted to balance the richness of the protein with the Texas Caviar and collard greens

The Texas Caviar or Cowboy caviar is a riff on a traditional three bean salad with Southwest inspired seasonings instead. Think lime, cilantro, red pepper etc. The acidity was a nice balance against the richness of the brisket

The collard greens were a pleasant surprise. A touch of sweet, sour and bitterness from the greens. The pot liquor, a bit on the salty side for my taste

Service was fast and friendly albeit counter service. My only nit pick here would be the lack of real flatware as they opt for the disposable pack along with serving sides in styrofoam instead of compostables

Great value considering the quality of the products served; a broad choice of proteins including chicken, pulled pork, tritip and sausage. J&L also serves traditional sides of Mac n cheese, beans and potato salad

Parking can be an issue but it's downtown Everett, not Seattle so take that with a...

In town for business, -- one night. I didn't feel like Mexican or Seafood, or Bento so I went here. I ordered the Brisket Dip w/Swiss, Potato Salad, Cornbread and a drink.

The meat was delicious, but watching the lady behind the counter put my sandwich bun/roll in the microwave with the au jus for 1.5 minutes and then take it out and put swiss and the brisket on it was not a good start.

Then she takes the cornbread off the counter, cuts a slice and puts it on my tray....so the sandwich roll is hot and the cornbread cold.

I get to eating this and one-quarter the way through the sandwich the bread is a brick! Disgusting. I took the meat off and ate it separate. As far as the rest of the meal, Reese's Potato Salad, Au Jus made with some paste from Sysco Food Distribution, and some pretty good BBQ sauce that tasted authentic.

I recommend to keep your Au Jus hot and make it from scratch. When you serve ANY bread heat it up on a flat-top or grill. Make your own sides. This place has the potential to be really good (because the meat really good), but never, ever use a microwave at a BBQ joint, it's a disgrace. Throw out the microwave and get a steam table for your hot side dishes....I repeat TOSS...

From your Previous post: "Next time they offer to give you the owner's phone number you should take it. I always strive to keep our customers happy. Joel"

Yeah, clearly not the case Joel.

Update: Typical response from a lazy owner* got time to comment online but not enough time to manage your business. Thanks for showing how much you care 😂- all jokes aside- good luck

So i am not sure why, but when you walk in, you are met with a vibe of I do not want to be here, followed by what do you want from the counter person- then about 3 mins of the person plating the food smashing pans around- slamming oven doors (My Chef when i worked culinary would have reprimanded me for not treating his expensive ovens with respect..). The Food has always been good at the Snohomish location along with their service- we recently bought a house 2 mins from the Everett location and were expecting similar experience. Not only the Sass- but they seem to always forget the BBQ sauce or mix up the side you asked for, etc. Gave it about 3-4 visits between my wife and we won't be back- more than likely will just check out the BBQ place...
