Shanghai Express Chinese Food — Restaurant in Evesham Township

Since I was 5 years old this place has been my family's go-to restaurant for Chinese Delivery. We would get the same thing every time; Chicken and broccoli, Sautéed String Beans, And Orange Beef. The orange beef was plentiful and crispy on the outside while tender on the inside. Unfortunately, things seemed to have changed over the years. The price went up and the quality went down. The Orange Beef is now a bit fatty and the once crispy outside has turned in to a removable sleeve (picture a McDonald's Chicken Nugget) and the amount averages about 4 medium pieces (Yet, it is one of their most expensive dishes). The string beans vary from soggy and scarce to plentiful and crispy; two very different experiences and you just can't rely on the consistency to be stable. It's quite a shame because I very much enjoy the customer service both over the phone and in person. Another issue I have is that about 10 years ago I fell in love with their Crab Rangoon. The last two times I ordered it I was forced to throw it away for having a strange tangy taste and an overwhelming presence of oil. Their Beef Lo Mein is somewhat slightly below average; essentially, you should not order it during a date because I can give you three separate testimonials that it is so greasy it causes bowel distress. I've currently been searching other places to replace them. The one on Main Street in Maple Shade is rather good yet I cannot recall the name. I give them 3 stars because of the friendly and above amazing customer service and the fact that I have not tried the entire menu so I cannot, in good conscience, give this establishment less if I do not yet know the preparation and quality of their other menu options. However, after 20 some-odd years of patronage, I find myself somewhat of an expert regarding these aforementioned...

Absolutely the Best Chinese food in the area ! Teddy & Kristen Are like family to me , I have went to this Restaurant for 20 years or more. The food is always the best! The Chicken and Broccoli is absolutely the best ever, the rice is so fluffy and good, the brown rice is my favorite it is so delicious. I have never ever had a bad meal here. we eat here at least once a week if not more . now I live farther away i drive from Pennsauken just for there food and delightful service it's just that good. specially when you find a restaurant that you love you will make the trip! Even when I lived in Utah and I made the trip home once a year this is the first place I would go to when I came home! I have had Friend's come from Utah for a visit , This is the first place I took them cause I knew they would love it and it sure did not disappoint them at all they had me go back so they could order take out food to have on the plane ride back to utah, it was not just adults she had her five kids with her and that's what they wanted for the plane ride home also! Yes people this Beautiful restaurant goes above and beyond to make this a happy belly full experience! And they do remember your name! Even when I call for take out Teddy the Owner always picks up the phone knows my voice and what I always order it's always ready when I get there! Just come to this Restaurant it will never Disappoint you...

Super friendly person took my order over phone... Very welcoming place... They made my food as per my request... No complaints... Generous portion and quality food. Wish there were more restaurants and kind people like this.

Update 10/1/21:- Last time i order kung pao chicken which was super good and the chicken was tender like marshmallow. This time Ted suggested hunan chicken and made it perfect to my expectation.... i have never had Chinese food this good in this neighborhood.... and i have tried every popular place in mt laurel/cherry hill/marlton/ramblewood/voorhes area. This place is my oasis!

Update 10/4/21:- Got "Moo Goo Gai Pan" based on Ted's recommendation. It was awesome. It is definitely on the lighter side when compared to Kung Pao & Hunan Chicken.... but this is the dish to choose if you want to take something on the lighter side.

Update 10/29/21:- Still rocking... Ordered all 3 chicken dishes tonight that I have mentioned above Kung...
