We are locals and we’ll be steering clear, pretty bad experience. We went at 3, closing is at 4. We tried to place our order and were cut off mid order - no problem but kind of weird. We sat to wait for the order, but felt pretty crammed close to an extremely loud customer who was hamming it up with the barista. Not a big deal, just decided to move to the quieter corner so we could have our teas and talk amongst ourselves.
As we were in the mix of moving, the customer and barista both loudly began talking how we didn’t clear our table off. It was obvious they wanted us to hear that. My mother is slow moving with her disability, so we weren’t even situated at the other table yet. It was needlessly provoking and I called the person out for saying that. This person was pretty confrontational and admittedly I met them with the same energy, as this person was swearing and deliberately rude in front of my mother and wife. My mother, wife and I were shooed out soon after by the barista who already didn’t want people in there to begin with. Before the whole ordeal, they had suggested pulling the fire alarm to make the customers leave, again loud enough for every customer to hear.
My mother was pretty shaken up and we felt threatened. Exeter is a sweet little town, this community deserves a way better local spot. The cappuccino and lemonade were both really good, we’d go there were it not for the absolutely abysmal vibe set...
Read moreChose to go local rather than Starbucks, Dunkin, or Joe's. I've been here a few times but I tend to be out later in the day and local isn't always an option if I plan to be in a place working or drawing. The cafe is nice, small, with some two seater tables. They make a good use of space with bar seating. Not a place to stay if you've got more than 2 of you wanting a table unless you can grab the floor cushion seating at the front. The drink specials are on the refrigerator behind the counter and I never would have even thought to look for them if I didn't notice the board in the window on my way in. My Halloween Fog was pretty good, a little light on flavor but with a nice foam. Poppyseed cake was very greasy and bland. Not sure I would chance a pastry again.
Service - not great. There was no one in line and nothing being prepared, still felt like I was a bother. In the less than 2 minute interaction at register and picking up the cup, just pretend you enjoy what you're doing. You don't have to go over the top, you don't have to chat, just be nice. The barista more than the person at the register. Makes me regret giving a tip.
I really, really, really want to support local business. Frustrating.

Read moreI Love warm drinks and coffee is a treat. In a world where capitalism raids us of our individuality and squeezes us miserably for return on profit, in essence forces us into genericism D2 Java is a breath of fresh air. With a diverse drink menu, it's quality is so evident to me that when I leave that place I miss it and when I come back to it I smile. The aroma of the fresh brewed chia and authentic ingredients is unmatched (I don't want to ruin it for you by telling you too much, you just gotta go). D2 Java is the best kept secret in the American coffee house world. In fact they are hard to lump into the coffee shop box because of how diverse their menu is. They are a small independent owned coffee shop that invests the time to make each drink uniquely and consistently with all natural ingredients which you get to see made right in front of your face. Not to mention the potency of the drinks; one shot of espresso from D2 and I'm a buzz for hours. If you don't know about this place you need to go find out before the lines start getting too long. Starbucks, Dunkin Donuts etc. be afraid; be...
