Tokyo Express Replacement
When Mamasan and Charlie, the owners of Tokyo Express, retired a few months ago and closed up I was devastated because they had the best sushi in Fairbanks.
Ninja Sushi is an amazing replacement. Everything was delicious and well prepared. Spent just over $100 for 3 adults for a birthday early dinner. It’s a little pricey compared to some of the other Sushi joints in town but worth every penny and we will be going back again!
Service was perfect. Great friendly waiter and even the chef came over to see how we liked it. Portions were not small. There’s something for everyone. My husband has been disappointed by seaweed salad at many sushi restaurants but this one was perfect. A good portion of seaweed with a mountain carrot on top and no filler rice or lettuce In this salad. The Heart Attack appetizer was just delicious! I asked to substitute regular salmon instead of the smoked salmon in the Philadelphia roll and there was no issue. Tasted amazing and perfect size roll for a small meal eater. The ret of the rolls were massive. The others with me gobbled them up.
We had the following but forgot to photograph a couple items.
Appetizers: 1 Seaweed Salad Heart Attack
Rolls: Spicy Tuna (Hand Roll) Philadelphia Roll (regular salmon instead of smoked salmon) Chefs Choice Special Red Dragon Roll Ninja Roll
Birthday Desert: Deep fried...
Read moreCame in and the place was absolutely beautiful, they told us we could sit anywhere so we chose a window seat. It was really cool being upstairs and seeing everything outside. About 2 minutes passed and we were greeted with miso and got our orders taken, and it only felt like 1 minute late they brought out our appetizers, some sushi and egg rolls! The sushi was huge! And a good price for the size I got, and it was sweet and tasted amazing. Then almost five minutes later our food came out, hot and ready to eat! I got the dumpling soup which was absolutely delicious, my partner got bulgogi which came on a hot plate still sizzling with some rice and a salad with a savory peanut dressing. All together the service was amazing and at the end we added some mochi, I don’t know if they have any other flavors but matcha but I’m not picky because I just asked for mochi. All together our food was just a little $80 but!!! We did get a lot and for the service and food you’re getting it is totally worth it. I gave them a $50 tip with a thank you note and I can only hope they know we appreciated the food even though we left pretty fast! Totally...

I ordered the spicy chicken teriyaki ($22ish) after being told they didn't have the ingredients for the bibimbap. The portion was small and for as quick as it came out, you think it would be hot and not room temperature... wrong. The chicken was slightly above room temp and the taste was a 5/10, if it was hot it might have been pushed to a 6/10. It also said it came with steamed veggies, it did not, it came out with a shredded lettuce salad with a few strings of carrots.
She ordered a couple types of sashimi (tuna, salmon) and the tamago. No real complaints from her other than the salmon not beong the ideal texture.
It's rare for me to not find something redeeming about a visit to a restaurant but there really wasn't anything here. Between the price oddity, cold food, and timing of the service between our two meals I would not recommend. They could just be working out the kinks because they just opened, however the issues are just too numerous...
