There were only 2 tables occupied upon arrival, and it was 3:50 P.M. so not a busy time. The ginger tea I ordered was delicious (and brought me there) and I also ordered red curry w tofu. It was all downhill from there. I was patient, very patient, asking for more ginger tea from a different waitress around the 20 minute mark. I had been there over 30 minutes when the second waitress approached, laughing, and apologizing for giving my order to a different table due to miscommunication from the first waitress. By the time I received my food, I had watched the other two tables order, eat, and leave, and a new table arrive, order, and eat appetizers. I was again ignored once I received my food and had to go to the register to find someone to pay. Not only was there no discount on the bill (the minimal attempt at making things right) but I was charged for two ginger teas (homemade and only requiring adding hot water). One star review for how delicious the tea was and the only redeeming factor...

This place is a hole-in-the-wall restaurant that serves amazing food! I've walked past it many times and last month finally gave into the fabulous aromas that quaffed from its open doors. The decor is not much too look at, but the service is, "homey". Meaning this place makes you feel like relaxing, watch a little TV, read the paper, and enjoy your meal as if you were at home.

The dishes are prepared in an open kitchen where you can stand up and watch the magic happen. The cooks play good cop, bad cop as one smiles with a knowing grin while the other wishes you would just sit down and be patient.

The Food! I order the soft-shell crab salad along with Red Curry Salmon with rice. Each bite was an explosion of flavors coming together in perfect harmony. You know how when you really like something, you eat slowly evaluating each bite in small nibbles? Yeah, that was me.

My only con is the place is a bit spendy, but worth it. This place is the BEST Thai restaurant...

It's been a while since I've been back here, and that's a shame, but with 23 Thai restaurants in the Fairbanks area, I try to vary it some. Going back today reminded me how consistently good they are with their dishes, and how they make the best tom yum I have had (I'm keeping track with a spreadsheet). Going there today was a good reminder that I need to go back far more frequently than I do. The atmosphere inside is more utilitarian than aesthetically designed , but they know what they are doing when it comes to making food. My only complaint is the use of Styrofoam and plastic to-go containers making direct contact with hot food in takeout. We would prefer paper-based containers, or a parchment paper barrier to minimize contact with...

Alaska Fairbanks Travel Guide: Food Edition (Part 2) Siam Square Thai Cuisine ✅ Next to the popular Japanese restaurant Ajimi, we originally planned to dine there. However, upon entering, we discovered it was run by a Korean owner serving Alaskan-style Japanese food. The service was slow, and the menu looked mediocre, so we quickly left. Just 50 meters away, we found this cozy spot with only one chef and a kind grandma as the server. Menu Highlights: 🌟 Pho Beef Combo: The broth is homemade and very flavorful, with generous portions of beef. The noodles are soft and chewy. Slightly underseasoned but overall good. Plenty for one person. 🌟 Spicy Fried Rice: Made with green peppers, it's quite spicy (two Hunan natives confirmed). Consider non-spicy options if you can't handle the heat. 🌟 Thai-style Fried Chicken: Freshly fried, crispy exterior with juicy inside. Highly recommended. 🌟 Spring Rolls: Vietnamese-style, refreshing with sweet chili sauce. Filled with cucumber, bean sprouts, shrimp, and egg. Worth ordering. 🌟 Mini Buns (bottom right of the menu): Forgot the name, but reminiscent of Costco's mini buns. Served with vinegar and garlic sauce. Six pieces, a bit small but decent taste. 🌟 Thai Milk Tea: Strong artificial sweetener taste, topped with thick cream. Nothing special. 🌟 Hot Chocolate: Likely mixed with milk, very rich, also topped with cream. Good flavor, worth ordering. Average Cost: $35-40 per person #HiddenGemRestaurants #RestaurantRecommendations #ThaiFood #AlaskaFood #AlaskaTravel #AlaskaFoodRecommendations #FairbanksGuide #FairbanksFood #TravelGuide #Food #TravelTips #Fairbanks #FairbanksFood #AnchorageFood #Anchorage #fairbanksfood
