Overall terrible experience!
Arrived at 730pm. Server was great. Very nice and friendly. Promptly took our drink orders.
For our meals, I ordered a sirloin steak, my wife was craving something with biscuits and gravy.
Food came out after 20 minutes (the place was almost empty). This is where the issues began.
#1. Opened the silverware. Fork and knife were dirty. Looked like a piece of onion was cooked onto the fork. Knife was spotty with dirty water. I cleaned it with my cup of water since the server was busy.
#2. My plate had a 5 hour old potato; brownish in color, beginning to harden. Most likely sat under a heat lamp waiting for an unsuspecting customer to order. Steak was decent and grilled to medium as I ordered. Broccoli was cooked okay, but clearly the first item to be plated as it was barely luke warm.
#3. My wife's plate was inedible. Biscuit was flat, size of a child's small pancake, and hard as a piece of Play-Doh left out overnight. Hashbrowns were raw in the middle. Gravy was sparce, covering 1/4 of the plate, mainly in the center. Completely unacceptable.
#4. Asked server to take wife's plate. And since she lost confidence with the kitchen, I hurried and ate my steak and broccoli. The bill came; they removed my wife's charge, but left mine, charging the full amount. While I rushed, my wife took the online survey.
We cashed out, believe it or not, with the manager on duty. He asked about our experience. I told him it was a 2/10, everything was terrible except the server. He was quiet. Maybe mumbled an apology. Didn't offer anything; 15-20% off the bill would've been nice since 1/3 of my food was inedible.
Ended up paying over $15 for a steak and broccoli. We still tipped 20% because the server was not at fault.
#5. My wife still wanted a breakfast item. So we drove 1 mile down to the McDonald's. Ordered a Egg McMuffin and hashbrown. Waited 5-6 minutes, because they actually dropped new hashbrowns and made the sandwich to order.
Once receiving the food, it was hot and fresh, everything exactly as we expected Bob Evans to be. But it was only $5! And brought a smile to both our faces!
Bottom line. Last time we will walk into a Bob Evans, especially this one. Food was beyond old and absolutely unacceptable quality for a large corporation to be serving, regardless if it's 730am or 730pm.
The night shift cooks need retrained and/or inventory thrown out. And the manager on duty should to be proactive in managing the restaurant, it's people, and the quality of products leaving the kitchen if repeat customers...
Read moreThis evening I ordered take-out from this restaurant where I have eaten for many, many years. While waiting for my order, I observed a woman in the food-prep area not wearing a mask. When she saw me looking at her, she put her mask on. I had observed the same thing on an earlier visit but had not said anything. This time I asked the server if I could speak to the manager. The woman not wearing the mask was the manager. I told her this was the second time I had observed a lady in the food service area not wearing a mask. She replied that everyone tries to keep their masks on but it is difficult. I said I sympathized but she was breathing on my food. A few minutes later as she was putting my order in a bag her mask was not over her nose. I said that I sympathized with the mask-wearing difficulties, but asked her to look at it from my point of view. How can I come back when people without masks or not covering their noses are breathing on my food. She said that in a perfect world everyone would wear their mask properly but it was extremely difficult. I said I sympathized, but she was still breathing on my food so how could I in good conscience come back again. In fairness to the manager, the masks appeared to me to be less than ideal. They did not appear to fit tight to faces and did not appear to have a metal insert at the top to make them fit better and cling to noses and not slip down. This suggests that Bob Evans management should re-consider their...
Read moreArrived at about 2PM with 5 other family members. Restaurant was slightly busy and they quickly made room for the six of us. A server came over promptly and took drink orders and then food orders. The food took a little while to arrive, again fairly busy so no problem. My granddaughters order was brought out at least 10 minutes before the rest of us, not cool. When the rest arrived some of the food was not very warm, much less hot. One order was breakfast and the sausage gravy was cool and included some carrots in the bowl, (not usually a part of the meal). By the way, when the breakfast was delivered only part of it was brought, had to ask for the rest of it. The hash browns were as solid as a rock, and not even close to warm. Had to ask for them to be replaced. Of course they came almost after the meal was half consumed. Drinks were not replenished and eventually had to go seek out the manager on duty. I covered my concerns with him and he agreed there were problems and apologized and ask what he could do to help out the situation. I told him to tell me what he would like to do and he offered 20% off. I accepted be he really didn’t seem interested. My guess would be that there was not likely any conversation with the staff involved to maybe be more attentive. Just wanted to get it over. Not a fan any longer, been to this location 2 times in last year, service not so good. The first visit was not as bad...
