Applebee's Grill + Bar — Restaurant in Fairfield

Terrible. We went there for my step-daughters birthday. Got there about 750pm. The restaurant was not terribly busy, 50% of the tables were empty. We were seated quickly. The waitress gave us a few minutes, took drink orders, then 5 minutes later brought the drinks... With no straws. Entre and appetizer orders were taken. 15 minutes later we needed to ask for straws. 20 minutes later appetizers arrive. No plates. No silverware. No napkins.

Wait 10 minutes, manage to find waitress, ask for plates, silverware. She drops the correct about of plates (5), but just dumps a handful of silverware on the table. We end up with a random pile of silverware with 7 forks and 9 knives left in a pile and runs off.

We notice no sauces for appetizers. Ask for sauces. They come out. Discover apps were NOT FRESH. eat them anyways at this point.

Entres arrive. Orders for 4 people are there. 5th order not there. Wait 5 minutes. 5th order arrives. Everyone tries food.

French fries and roasted potatoes are both stale tasting, like a reheat of old food.

Waitress asked if they have "seasoned salt". Looks confused. Points to grinder of sea salt on table, runs away.

Discovered that ketchup is empty. Grab from another table. Waitress not trusted to grab ketchup.

People eat lousy food anyways.

It is discovered that hamburger is not a hamburger but a CHEESEBURGER

Autistic child does not eat cheese. Send back to kitchen.

Get new hamburger. Is discovered we are 2 hours into this.

Manager reduces bill by 50%. At 10:15pm we leave. Refuse offer of free desserts served by manager.

This place gets a bad rap from the locals. I've been eating at this Applebee's for years and I have never experienced anything close to the poor experiences that seem to always show up on social media. I guess I can only tell my truth so here it is..... The hostess warned us it was about a 15 or 20 minute wait because there was only one server. No problem. The estimate was accurate and we were seated. Within 10 minutes our orders were taken (drinks and food)....no problem and yes I know that's not how it's supposed to work but we knew what we wanted and we were already warned about them being short staffed. The appetizer and salads came out in another 10 minutes. Those were delivered by a runner. The salads were cold and the wings were hot -- let's keep going. In another 10 minutes or so the entrees arrived. All were perfectly cooked with all the mods intact. We ordered desert to go and within another 10 minutes that arrived boxed up and ready to go with an updated bill. The most important part here is that everyone helped out.... hostess prebussed and ran drinks, server in training ran food and cleaned up tables. Our server Cody wasn't stressing and didn't make us feel rushed or ignored, he checked back on us at least 3 times over the course of the meal. When I was a young man, I worked in restaurants, back and front of the house so I know how it all works and know what it looks like when it doesn't. This place has everything to make customers happy, the food is excellent, the staff is friendly and the prices are reasonable. I will definitely eat here in the future and I have no reservations about recommending...

Took my girlfriend and her son there for dinner. My girlfriend and I ordered the 2 for 30. Hideous! We had the spinach and artichoke dip, as the appetizer. The chips were old and stale. Very chewy and not crunchy. I ordered the Chicken and shrimp with mashed potatoes and broccoli. The chicken was Luke warm. The shrimp was cold and the garlic butter they use, was thick and clumpy, on top of the steak ! The mashed potatoes were so hot, they blistered the roof of my mouth and tongue! The brocoli was plain. My girlfriend ordered the sirloin with mashed potatoes and macaroni and cheese. She ordered the steak, medium. when it came out, the steak was cold and like eating steak jerky! The mashed potatoes, On her plate and Mine, we're very bland with no flavoring. My girlfriend and her son, ordered drinks. The whole bill came to $91. The food and the service sucked! It took them almost an hour to get our food out to us. This is my 1st time ever eating at this applebee's. Just because a song mentions a restaurant name in it, does not make the place good to eat at. The food and the service were very very poor! I will not eat here again. Please people! Heed warning and do not patronize this place. the price was outrageous and the food was below standards! I would not feed this...
