I have now visited this location about seven times over the past year or so. I have over a decade of experience in food service. The food: The food is honestly really good. The pizzas, pastas, and hoagies are all worth trying. Salads are fresh and food is very fairly priced. Good cheese used. If you are looking for something to take home or eat in, you will be happy with the quality. I keep returning for the good food in a convenient location. As for the service: The service in the store is okay, but has a lot of room for improvement. Unfortunately, a mistake or two has been make every time I have visited. Never enough to make me upset enough to complain, but enough to be inconvenient. For example, each time I have ordered a meal with a specification (such as no pepperoni on the salad or substituting the sauce), it has been ignored. Again, the mistakes are usually small mistakes but it is the simple things that make for good service. When entering the store, you are rarely greeted and it seems like a few people would definitely rather be somewhere else. I would suggest being more friendly to customers to make a bigger impact so they come back. Something as simple as smiling or saying "Hello!" when someone comes in is enough to make someone a regular customer. I say this as someone who works in a restaurant. It's easy to forget that as a service industry worker we might actually be the only positive interaction someone gets in a day. I think incorporating a more positive environment will go a really long way in the reviews.
I hope that at some point I will be able to change the review because the service improves. As to whether I will be returning, I really think this is a restaurant that is worth visiting especially if you want to support community businesses!! I will be going...
Read moreMy husband and I tried this place out after reading all the great reviews. Regrettably none of the reviews prepared us for what we encountered. First there is no sign telling you if you seat yourself or have to wait for service. So we stood there waiting for someone to acknowledge us and inform us what to do. Finally someone told us we could sit anywhere and they would be out to serve us soon. We chose the booth that was not below the gaping hole in the ceiling next to a ceiling fan. We tried to not let that discourage us and tried to give this place the benefit of the doubt. It then took over 10 minutes for the only server to give us menus.
Quick note that our server is the only reason I would even give this place a single star. She was very pregnant and was doing her best to be personable and get the orders in and out. Why no one was helping her, when I saw at least 7 other people in the small building, I have no idea.
It took an excruciatingly long time to get our order placed and even longer to receive our food. I ordered the Manicotti and my husband ordered the Spaghetti. Both plates had burnt sauce on the sides. When my husband used his spoon to start string the sauce into his Spaghetti we could see that there was still a good half inch of the boiling water on the Spaghetti. The Spaghetti was cooked way beyond Al dente, someone with out teeth could chew it. The Manicotti was cooked to a point where I had to wonder if I was eating raw dough, and it was 80% sauce. Luckily you get a huge basket of garlic bread to help soak it up.
Maybe the pizza is better... But I am not...
Read moreI love their food but waiting on hold and they don't even come back to say, "Fairfield Pizza can you hold" and immediately place you on hold over and over again... That's very aggravating, at least wait for an answer and you might discovered that we were put on hold 15 times and my poor mother finally gave up talking to an actual person when we discovered we could order online... Once we arrived, our order was still in the process of getting put together. Once most was ready to go, they used cardboard cartons and trays to provide ease in moving our order to my vehicle. When we paid, the dollar amount of the order was a little less than what the total online had shown. We asked if they had the full order and they said they had everything that was sent to them... Once I arrived back at my parents house, I discovered that we were missing my upick 4 ingredients pizza and an apple pizza. but our order was lacking two items between - we did have a big order - wings, pizza, calzones, salads, and several pasta dishes. I guess perhaps the order did not go all the way through? We had asked them to read off the list, but I guess they didn't hear us ask, not taking it as rude or anything because the phone was ringing the entire time I was there with my dad to pick our order up.
We were celebrating one of my sisters' birthday. It's something important to us, to celebrate each year that we all grow a little older and a little wiser. Especially when many of us haven't been seeing each other as often due to the pandemic. So birthdays are extra special during...
