I consider going to Perkins a rare treat for breakfast (usually a few times a month) and have been going for about 30 years (not the same location). As of late, I ALWAYS order the same exact thing (Everything Omelet - sub turkey for ham, hash browns, pancakes - butter on the side, sugar-free syrup). Rarely do they get the "butter on the side" correct (and they didn't today), which is just a minor annoyance. I went today because I like to get out of the house while working from home. Today was special, but not in a good way. Its probably the first time EVER (to my recollection) that I did not leave a tip for the server... and I always tip at least 20% or more. My gripes are that, outside of taking my order, my server visited by table 0 (zero) times to check on me. I had no extra napkins, no water refill, no desert upsell and I had to ask the manager for ketchup for my hashbrowns. On top of that, I had to leave the table and have the manager print out the check so that I could pay. Normally, I would hang around, check messages, browse the internet, etc. At that point, I wasn't staying any longer that I had to and I had a bit of an attitude. My number one "pet peeve" while at a restaurant is bad/slow service. I expect a server to be attentive to the normal things that customers are accustomed to. I like refills, my dirty dishes cleared from the table, extra napkins, etc. When this doesn't happen, I focus on other things. I subconsciously track who is seated after me but gets served before me (even taking into account the complexity of their order). I also notice other servers that are doing bang up jobs. In fact, I considered giving another server a tip just because I liked the way she serviced her customers (all while I was waiting to be asked if I was OK or if I needed anything or "how is the food"). While at that point, I had to stop the manager to ask some ketchup. When I went to pay (mind you, I didn't even receive a check yet), the manager asked me how was the food, I did say "it was OK" but I also proceeded with a snide remark that "normally servers check on customers at least once". He said he would speak to the server (hopefully he did and this was just an oversight and I'm blowing this all out of proportion). Now, all this to say, maybe its just a training issue (or lack thereof) or no attention to detail (which means the server is in the wrong industry). However, I will not hold any grudges and hope that the service level will significantly increase upon my next visit (yes, I won't reserve full judgment for an anomaly). I'm sure this will wear off by next week, but now it will be in the back of my mind and the clock will unfortunately start ticking when I'm seated. But, as you can tell, this really left a bad taste in my mouth because I don't do...
Read moreCouldn't use the website to order. Called order in. Picked it up and was more than disappointed. I haven't been to a Perkins in years. We used to go when my grandmother was still alive. It's been 18 years since I stepped inside of one. In fact it's been so long when I walked in that the lack of smells of cigarettes and coffee hit me first. So I picked up our food. Ordered the build a breakfast and the whole thing was messed up and I was missing my gravy. The biscuits tasted old and were hard. My daughter wouldn't eat her pancakes. They tasted burnt. They weren't burnt, very dark but not burnt. She wouldn't eat them. My whole experience was rather disappointing. Considering the restaurant is so close I was happy that I could start going back and build my own tradition with my kids. I gave 2 starts only because the man at the front counter was respectful and nice. Other than that I wouldn't...
Read moreVery nice place to go for breakfast/Brunch. I had the Eggs Benedict and hash browns. Delicious. My only (minor) complaint is that the ham was somewhat grissly..so I just took it off. The eggs seemed very thin with somewhat hardened yolk. The hash browns were delicious. My friend had the granny omelette which looked delicious, hash browns and they even included fruit with mine and pancakes with his. He said he really liked it. The waitress was very sweet and very efficient. Even the coffee was good which is saying a lot as I am originally from Seattle. The restaurant was clean and as well as the tables were well wiped off. The pies looked delicious albeit pricey. The food also a bit pricey (for the both of us bill was almost $40.00) but in all fairness, they are generous with what you get. All in all it was just...
