Don't listen to any of the negative reviews, those reviewers clearly don't know amazing food when they've had it!
Layla's is the only place in CT to go for delicious Lebanese food! The shawaffle in Pita is a must try regardless of what meat you get because their meats are all the best I've had in CT, the shawaffle gives you everything you're looking for in a meal and every bite is a new experience the more you eat it!
Everything is fresh and herbaceous from the spices which aren't overwhelming, the nutty tang from the tahini paired with the refreshing zing of the garlic sauce all coating the deliciously seasoned chicken or lamb. The flavorful baba ganoush is absolutely perfect for a chilly day cause it'll warm your soul!
The falafel is fresh and doesn't have that bad fryer oil taste to it like other places I've had it and the baklava is a life changing experience with it's perfect crunch to chew ratio paired with just the right amount of sweetness so that your mouth doesn't feel like you ate a bowl of sugar!
All of this comes together with the amazingly wonderful service provided by the staff who makes you feel more than just welcomed, they make you feel like part of the family!
Bottom line: You want over the top delicious food with the friendliest atmosphere,...
Read moreI'm trying to be fair with this review. There aren't many falafel options in my area - Bpt, CT. So, everytime I'm seeking a healthy, halal meal I immediately think of Mamouns on Howe St in New Haven. Since I can't always get there, I've gone to either Layla's in Fairfield or Star Istanbul in downtown Bpt. I've tasted Layla's hummus and chicken schwarma, both were okay. Again they're not a favorite. At any rate, we ordered Layla's for lunch at work and I got the lamb schwarma as a main dish. The wrap was a nice size but it was hella bland and as another reviewer has stated, it was quite the "smelly mutton." It did taste a little better once I dipped it in their garlic dip. Their hummus was meh, the baba ganoush was decent, and the baklava was pretty good. I figure all the people giving this place 5's have nothing to compare it to. Also want to add that we ordered well ahead of picking up our order but when we got there the food still wasn't ready. On another note, everything looked good but it just doesn't hit...
Read moreFirst time I ordered the food it was amazing, everything fresh and tasty. Expensive for the portion, size but I justified it because of how close to being authentic the flavors were. Second time still god but quality of the ingredients decreased and it arrived cold (it could also have been the delivery so I didn’t blame them on that). Third time we ordered, the food was seriously horrible. I ordered two lamb shawarmas both came with literally NO meat, everything was pieces of grease and chewy connective tissue. It tasted like it was made out of trash or leftovers from the real meat. The meat pie was a joke, dry unflavored and almost no meat as well. The cucumber and yoghurt sauce was almost decent I guess, so I ended up paying like 50 dollars for some bread and yogurt since I didn’t eat the rest of the meal. I dissected the shawarmas and all the interior was just grease of the lamb and no meat at all mixed with soggy lettuce. Super dissatisfied and disappointed. Wont be...
