I normally start with something like “if you’re in the area”, but not today! X Ramen is a destination where you want to be, and is definitely worth traveling for.
This ramen & chicken spot takes everything you thought you knew about ramen and cranks it up to eleven. As soon as you walk in, you're greeted by a warm, casual, and modern artistic vibe that invites you to relax and prepare for the fun flavorful journey ahead.
X Ramen is known for its creative twists on traditional Japanese flavors, with ramen that strikes the perfect balance between rich, silky broths and vibrant toppings. The Tonkotsu ramen is creamy, deeply savory, and somehow both light and hearty at the same time, with perfectly cooked noodles that have just the right amount of chew. And don't even get me started on the Saporro Soyo Chicken; perfectly grilled chicken, juicy on the inside, and seasoned with a unique spice blend, it’s an absolute must-try and pairs perfectly with any ramen on the menu. And don’t sleep on the wings! The super crispy, yet spicy rubbed wings give a crunchy bite into perfectly cooked juicy heaven.
But the experience doesn’t stop at the food—X Ramen takes presentation seriously. Every bowl is a piece of art, with toppings arranged beautifully to make the dish as much a feast for the eyes as it is for the taste buds. The staff is friendly, knowledgeable, and genuinely passionate about what they’re serving, making you feel like part of the family with every visit. Andy, the owner who comes from a family of successful restaurateurs, personally greets everyone and treats you like a member of the family.
For a cozy yet adventurous meal that combines comfort with bold, inventive flavors, X Ramen in Southport is the place to be. Whether you’re a ramen connoisseur or just dipping your toes into the world of Japanese cuisine, X Ramen is going to blow you away. Oh, and as an extra fun treat there is epically awesome FREE popcorn and cotton candy self-serve machines conveniently located on...
Read moreA warm welcoming greeting from a sweet host and a sweet and pleasant server named YINGYING aka Loren A 4 page menu with exciting offering fully described and simple to follow. Napkins of fine material the size of a tablecloth. Not linen but close. My order consisted of Korean fried chicken bites with sweet chili sauce. This appetizer goes beyond your wildest imagination. 6-8 pieces but I wish there were 60. Perfectly fried chicken with a crisp and savory batter. I couldn't stop licking my fingers they were that Great. (The Colonel is way out of line 😀) Next I ordered steamed shrimp dumplings. Only 4. That made me shed a tear but they are filled with a full mouth full of shrimp the size of a large golfball and mildly spiced. There is chili sauce and chili powder on your table along with soy sauce kept in small Chinese dishes that tempt one to take them home😀. I did not! Now we get to the heart of the meal, The Ramen. I chose "Inferno Ramen". 5 pieces of Chashu pork, corn, mushroom, bok choy, black fungus, marinated egg, scallion, seaweed, bamboo, fishcakes spicy miso broth topped with black garlic oil. The secret to any ramen or pho is the broth. Screw up the broth and your customers will not return. Forget the stuff in the broth. The noodles vegetables etc become meaningless. This incredible meal cost only $37.57 including tax. Tip was not included. An outstanding restaurant. A new kid on the block! Superb Ramen, Korean fried chicken, and shrimp dumplings at a reasonable price. The customer service here is unsurpassed. Attentive, k owledgeabl and lovable servers. It's a must try and y'all wil see that the MECHA NOODLE HOUSE IS A waste of money and...
Read moreI tried the Tonkotsu ramen and the Korean fried chicken. While the ramen was flavorful, it lacked authenticity. The broth was chicken-based rather than the traditional pork-based broth, which gives Tonkotsu its distinctive richness. That said, the noodles were cooked perfectly, and the chashu was tender and delicious. One issue I had was that the menu didn’t mention it came with corn. As someone allergic to corn, I had to pick it out, which was frustrating. Overall, it hits the spot for comfort on a cold day but doesn’t deliver the classic pork bone broth experience.
The fried chicken was juicy and crispy, but on its own, it tasted a bit one-dimensional—mostly just salty. I requested the garlic parmesan sauce on the side, and I’m glad I did because I didn’t enjoy it. I switched to garlic soy, which paired much better with the chicken. I’d recommend having it with a sauce for a more balanced flavor.
Atmosphere was relaxing. The interior was beautifully decorated, and is spacious. Servers were friendly and attentive.
Overall, not bad for a soft launch. With a few adjustments, it has the potential to be a...
