I'm a pain in the rear when it comes to food. I mean I suck to be with because I'm easily put off, want organic food, don't like a million things like eggs, fish and most meat. None of this because of ethics, if it was down to me or Bambi surviving in the woods I'd be the one walking out, I just get squimish too easily. I also try to eat clean, at least 80% of the time, I'm in my 50s, it's time to be responsible.
Organika is my favorite restaurant in CT by far. Even though we live in Milford, we often make a trip or special stop to grab food to go or to eat in
There is no downside for me beyond my Mom being a little short for the stools inside if it's to warm for us outside...no biggie, we go slow and get to the table.
The food is + + +
Delicious, freshly prepared and made with better quality ingredients. It's the only place I don't cringe at when my family is looking at the menu since I know whatever they choose is much healthier for them than any other restaurant.
There is a wide variety in the menu of savory, sweet, spicy, hot, cold, small or big portions to choose from.
Our go to choice is the Grown Up Grilled Cheese, Kale Salad and the Beet based plant burger...try it with chipotle aoili if truffle isn't you style.
There is the same range of choices for ready made and made to order drinks.
The employees are always friendly, even if you ask a million questions. The place is always clean without any visible trash on the floors or dust on surfaces (yep, I'm that type of pain in the rear, I need clean food, establishments and team members to feel comfortable.)
Highly recommend Organika, you can call ahead to place your order for pick up to save time. There is plenty of parking on the Post Road or in a small lot adjacent to...
Read moreIt really pains me to leave Organika a negative review, because all-vegan restaurants are so rare, and all-organic-vegan ones even more so. I love the idea. However, two out of three of our entrees here were super bland with almost no flavor at all (breakfast tofu scramble burrito and veggie burger) and the third was only mildly flavorful (meatball sandwich).
It's understandable (although always frustrating) when a non-vegan restaurant serves up tasteless vegan dishes, but I honestly don't understand how an all-vegan restaurant can get vegan meals so wrong and devoid of flavor.
Bland and flavorless should not be on the menu at an all-vegan joint.
The seating set-up here, or lack thereof, is also a bit strange. All of the tables at Organika are for standing (think standing desk at the office), with the only chairs in the place being two small ones in the corner next to a tiny coffee table that does not provide enough space to rest food on. These standing tables might make sense for adults (although who wants to stand while eating? Never seen that before), but anyone under about 5-feet tall (all kids!) can not use them.... which leaves me feeling like this place is not family-friendly for dining in. Maybe most people get their orders to go-- I don't know-- but why not put some tall bar stools at one or two of the three tables so that people and kids can have a rest?
Great decor, a beautiful building, and friendly service, but the flavors at this place will not make you want to come back (including the...
Read moreFound this place just driving through. It's a bright eye-catching atmosphere on the inside. I was a little disappointed that there were no chairs or tables to eat inside. There were tales outside but it was 40 degrees outside and I'm a Miami girl (I haven't lived in the cold in over 10 yrs) that won't work for me. I ordered the tofu scramble (it's a wrap). It was a big portion but super heavy on the turmeric seasoning. They have a rack in the restaurant of multiple seasonings that are definitely needed. I don't think the food is cooked with salt or very little salt or other seasonings. I was already in my car taking the first bite (because there's nowhere to sit) when I realized I'd need the seasoning rack. Bit of an inconvenience. The juices and wheat grass shots are great as well as the service.
I probably would go back and I'd just make sure I had access to the seasoning rack before I leave and maybe in the spring or summer when there's a place to sit and eat. Standing or eating in my car isn't really my thing.
Take out only. Home date or if you're on the run and don't mind eating in the car then you...
