Ruined Christmas gift. So about a week ago I placed an order for milk chocolate coconut clusters a young boy, (Sebastian I was told) took my order and said they’d have it for me. I called back a week later on Sunday the 20th asking if my order was ready and if could pick it up on Monday, the boy I spoke to on the phone said yes it was all set. When I showed up Monday, on my lunch break mind you, to get my order I was told they didn’t have any milk chocolate coconut clusters and they didn’t have my order. I told them I had placed it and spoken to someone the previous day about it. They looked around and they ended up finding my order slip... still in the book and never had been put through. I’m already annoyed but they said they’d call the other store to find out if they could make me some and they’d give me a call back. That was @11:30 roughly. I called back at 5 after not receiving a call all day (I do realize it’s Christmas time and they were busy so I understood) and was told they were still waiting on an answer and that she’d call them again right now and then call me back right away. I never received a call back and today I received no call, had to reach out and call myself. Only to be told “I’m sorry I forgot to call you back, and no we don’t have them”. Mistakes happen I get it but now 3 days before Christmas I don’t have a Christmas gift for someone and it’s too last minute to order it anywhere else. So now I’m just screwed for Christmas? I’m gonna have to end up making them myself, if I can even find the stuff this late. Overall I’d rate this a very unprofessional experience. I had to call them twice they never once reached out to me to explain...
Read moreI came here for the first time a year ago to get a Del's Lemonade. The worker told me they were all out, but then said they might have enough to make two more (what I wanted). It was disgusting. I chalked it up to them running low.
Decided to give it another try this year because I happened to be nearby. Tasted exactly the same, nasty. Doesn't taste anything like Del's or have the right texture. Doesn't even taste like lemon.
Had a bad experience overall. The girl at the counter was new. She didn't know how they charged the chocolates and didn't know what to put my chocolates in. That's fine, we all start somewhere. What I didn't appreciate was a more experienced woman stepping in and having a sour attitude with both me and the new worker.
Long story short I was overcharged for ½lb instead of ¼lb by the lady with the attitude, who then took it out on the new employee (even though she was the one who rang me out). It was very uncomfortable.
I made it clear I did not want more than I already picked out, and I was told "you need to get the half pound we rang you up for" instead of doing the reasonable thing and refunding me for what I was overcharged. It ended up that their machine timed out and I had to run my card again anyways but getting a couple of chocolates and a lemonade was a much bigger hassle than it...
Read moreI'm sure the chocolate is fine when it's delivered or handled correctly, which is why this isn't a one star review.
I got a box delivered as a gift from a large professional association in a state outside of New England, in the South, in connection with a big virtual conference.
The packaging had no marking indicating perishable contents. The box was supposed to be packed with ice, but it only came with a tiny pack that melted in transit. The chocolate thus melted into a single mass after USPS propped up the box at my door. This may not have happened if Dorothy Cox's Chocolates properly marked the contents as perishable goods and ensured adequate protection for 90+ degree summer temperatures.
Conclusion: Don't get chocolate shipped from this shop if you're not in the northeast. It'll be doomed from the start!
Edit: I deleted a section linking the packaging to a subsequent ant infestation of the chocolate. I couldn't eat the chocolate because I left it out where the ants could get to it, but the ants didn't get in because of a packaging fault.
Also, the box was packed in a foil pouch as well as with the failed ice pack, but it still...
