We have been in the Midwest now for over 14 years, and having good Mexican food is truly few and far between. We've tried them all around us, they all fall short of what we get back home. (San Diego) Until tonight! We were served by Allen, (the owner's son) and he was friendly, prompt and well accommodating to us with some special requests on our menu choices. The food was excellent, hot and served in a reasonable amount of time. Frida's has a lot of open room, and is tastefully decorated, the restroom (men's) was clean and stocked. There was light music in the background, and we were checked in on enough times to not be annoying. We had 4 soft drinks and our meals, with the chips and salsa to start came to $83 after tax. Allen did a great job, we gave him a $100, thanked him and let him know we'll be back soon. (October 3, 2024 they get their liquor license and we look forward to trying their margaritas! They are within walking distance and we have plans of spending some evening there! If you're looking for great Mexican food served buy a caring family who are definitely putting their heart and soul into make delicious meals, consider giving Frida's a try, you be happy (and...

I've never actually reviewed a resturant before but I felt I had to after our first experience here. All the reviews are so great so I'm not sure why it was such a mess for us.

My husband ordered food for our family to go and it took a full 40 minutes after ordering for our food to be ready. He said several other customers who had ordered after him had already recieved their food. We figured it was just a fluke.

When we got home, the 2 chimichangas we ordered were mislabeled so we ended up eating each others meals. We also had asked for no beans and gauc, but both plates were swimming in them.

Finally, we had ordered a quesadilla for our kids. The cheese wasn't even melted and there was a huge dollop of sour cream inside of it. I have never seen someone put sour cream in a quesadilla (always on the side) and the menu didn't mention it, so of course we didn't know to ask for no sour cream. Though given the other orders, it probably wouldn't haven't mattered anyway. Nothing quite like a 2 yr old saying, "ew sauce on it!"

Hopefully this was just an off day for them, but unfortunately we won't be back...

This was our first time at this location. It’s pretty loud in there, even with not a lot of people. The food was average. Not horrible, not great. I got the arroz con pollo and there was so much grease. There were five of us, all with different food and no one was particularly wowed. The chips tasted sweet. Salsa was good.

Where it went downhill for us was checking out. He brought the check and I told him I had a coupon - $10 off of $60. He takes that and I give him my card. He brings back the coupon and says he’s giving it back because he made a mistake and ran my credit card and was planning to adjust the price after. He wasn’t able to do that so he just told us to use the coupon another time. I asked if he could just cancel the charge and he said he wasn’t able to do that. Despite the owner being there, he didn’t ask what to do. Didn’t just bring me cash. Just said “sorry, it’s my fault - just use it next time.” We didn’t demand to talk to the manager or owner. Just paid it and left.

We left the coupon because there won’t be a next time. Pretty...

The restaurant is very open almost cafeteria style. The servers are kind but we had so many come by our table we weren't sure who was our actual server. They were not doing one of their dishes in the menu anymore, Queso Fundido, we were told it's because they don't have a torch that works any more so they'll probably take it off. He suggested the Queso chorizo instead. It was tasty. The beef tacos, not pictured, were wet and runny. The enchilada plate was okay. The cheese sauce was sparse but the chicken filling was flavorful. The rice tasted fake, I mean the texture was just off, and beans were beans, nothing special. We had to keep asking for stuff like extra napkins, more chips, a serving bowl of salsa, nobody asked how the food was anger or had been served and at check out I had to wait several extra minutes just so our server could find change for a ten. I would not recommend this place for a someone in a hurry.

My buddy and I were hungry and we stumbled upon this gem of a Mexican restaurant. From the moment we walked in, the atmosphere felt intimate, with limited seating, nothing like the typical bustling Mexican restaurant. Right away, I had a good feeling about the customer service and food here. We started with drinks, a margarita and a frozen piña colada. Unfortunately, the frozen piña colada wasn’t an option due to an equipment issue, so I opted for a pineapple soda instead. Noticing my slight disappointment, the owner, Job, went above and beyond to make it happen. He grabbed a blender and whipped up the frozen piña colada himself! Job's humility and exceptional customer service were truly impressive. The street tacos were absolutely delicious, and I loved the chips and salsa. After this experience, it's clear why this restaurant holds a stellar 4.9 rating, I experienced it firsthand!
