We spent a week in Fajardo and enjoyed meals at a dozen different places, but Los Changuitos was our absolute favorite! The owner is a hard working, friendly guy whose passion and dedication to succeed are evident, and he's one of the nicest people you'll ever meet.
They use fresh, high quality ingredients, make everything in-house, the service is top notch, our food was always excellent, and the flavors were outstanding. I really loved their sauces and drink mixes, too, especially the margarita mix! Speaking of which, whether you're a lover of margaritas (like me), or tequila in general (also me), this is THE place to go. With an already impressive collection, and a goal of eventually being able to offer 150 different tequilas, you won't find a better margarita or selection of tequilas anywhere around.
Having a variety of seating options was nice. I also really loved the fun, colorful murals that were painted by a very talented local artist. Sweeping across all of the interior walls, they set a tone that's vibrant, family-friendly, and a touch whimsical. Aside from being super cool, the artwork is also a great conversation starter.
If you're in the area and are looking for a place that offers terrific food, excellent drinks, fantastic service, friendly locals, great music, and a family-feeling kind of...
Read moreRead moreThis restaurant is amazing!!! I was staying in the airbnb right across the street from it and came here on my last night in PR as a 'last supper' with my family. We had a great time! The atmosphere is great, with cool and funky modern murals on the walls, something different on every TV and banger music playing. The food is also absolutely delicious: the nachos we ordered came quickly and they were snatched up by everyone at the table (who kept exclaiming how great they were), and the chicken tacos were fresh and also enjoyed by everyone! One person in my group asked if there was anything "desert-y" on the menu, and there wasn't, but the owner told us he could just make us something that he's been wanting to put on the menu once they get more traction, and it was so good; it was sugary and sweet and perfect as an after-meal treat. There's also a Street Fighter arcade machine which may not be important to everyone but I loved playing while waiting for food to arrive, and it's two player so it's perfect for playing with someone else or to entertain kids for a while! Overall, it was a great experience and if you are staying in/near Fajardo it is ...
!!!!! We stayed across from this place for a week, and almost missed it because it doesn't look like much from the outside. Go!!! Do not wait. From the murals, to the tile work, the arcade game, to the choice of music - every detail of this restaurant is considered. The atmosphere is absolutely awesome! The menu is limited but we ate almost everything during our stay in fajardo and every single menu item ROCKED. The pulled pork nachos, the taco salad, made to order guacamole - I'm salivating writing this. The owner personally takes your order and delivers your food. This place was created and is run with so much love. Our table of five had a big meal and was craving dessert... Although there was no dessert on the menu the owner found a way to give a yes. Made us tortilla chips tossed in a rum reduction and sugar & cinnamon - a table pleaser. We had such a nice time and went back for a total of three times during our stay in fajardo. Go...
