St. James Irish Pub — Restaurant in Fall River

Great bar. Nice atmosphere. Nice sound system with really good bass. Bartenders were really cool. There were two of them, and they had fun together. Definitely having fun, and doing a good job too. They had trivia, or whatever going on that night. Which I love. Asking riddles, and stuff. Good crowd. It was pretty busy, which is always a good sign.

Everyone seemed to be enjoying themselves very much. Good mix of guys and girls. 60/40 men/women or so. They have a nice simple menu which is smart IMO. I worry about the freshness at places that have big menus, and you should too. I've worked on restaurants for over 32 years. So you'll just have to trust me. Stay away, even if they're busy. Or at least order the popular stuff. Don't get the fish at a steak house folks. Unless you see others getting it, and never on Monday.

I got the black and tan onion rings, and a cheeseburger. O rings weren't hot, nor was I impressed. The fries were the homemade type that don't get crispy. They weren't hot either. Normally I wouldn't eat them. But they were actually really good, and I'm that guy that picks all the crispy ones out. The burger however was excellent. Hot, tasty, juicy. Almost perfect actually. Nice soft bun too. Lettuce, onions, and tomatoes are free. Price was very reasonable. I would definitely go there again. Everyone says to get the Juicy Lucy, and I...

I've been going to St James since July 2024. They have really good wings with a lot of sauce and dry rub options. You can even mix the sauces/rubs for an upcharge.

I have also had burgers, fish tacos, chicken sandwiches....all of their food is amazing. The onion rings are freshly prepared in house....and they are amazing, especially with the dipping sauce.

The service has been very good and I had my first experience with how they handle issues. I ordered wings and the order wasn't put in. I asked after I should have received them. The waitress said ok....I noticed her going to the register, then to the manager. Next thing I know, she came to me and immediately apologized because she found the order wasn't put in. She had already gotten approval from the manager to comp my wings AND she had already talked to the kitchen who rushed my order of 8 wings. I didn't have to ask or complain or anything. She and the rest of the staff recognized a mistake was made, took action to correct it, and apologized to me.

Last night I had the worst experience of my life at this bar. I was with a friend and we ordered margueritas, the first ones were very good but from the third one onwards it was so acidic it felt like I was squeezing the lemon in my mouth, and there was no alcohol at all. We asked to pay to leave, without having the last drink, the card was on the counter for more than twenty minutes and the bartenders pretended we didn't exist. When a bartender finally came to help us, my friend complained about the drinks and the lack of attention, that's when the security guard started yelling like we were refusing to pay the $72.00 bill, that had already been paid. We were extremely offended in that place. I don't recommend anyone to go. I'm only giving one star to be registered, but it should be -5 stars.
