Reviews are what you make of them. How you interpret them. And I suppose how they are buried or deleted is also a reflection of interpretation. Meh. I walked in single. I am heavier than most. I have one leg shorter than the other. To say I look "unique" is a kind way to just flat out admit I am different. I was sat at the bar. And there I stayed. I observed the patrons to the left, right, across the room, and outside procure food and drinks. Alas, I decided to leave. I was genuinely hungry. Albeit quite the labor intensive task to get up and go, it was time for me to seek a place where I could be treated like a person. Eyecontact and pleasant greetings has to be abound in other places? I've only been in North Dakota for 3 weeks. First time eating out. I enjoy local foods a great deal but I find myself going back to the commercial chain of fast foods in lieu of being acknowledged and rarely treated as if I cannot be seen to the untrained eye. Ach de Leiber. It is better if I eat at home anyway. It was my "excuse" to try to get out and see people. I'm very confident that if you look normal, are white, and do not have a stammer, that Pounds is right up your alley for a great place to be. I wouldn't know what the food quality is however, but again, if you are ordinary people you will probably have a great time. From what I could sus out my waitress might have been the lady with red and black hair. That bright, really pretty color red, like passion. She had red makeup on too. She seemed pleasant toward everyone else who was around. That is a part of the 2 star rating and not a 1 star. Looking at the demographic around me, you'll have a great time if you are that traditional, able-bodied, have both eyes because the one I had as a little girl ended up getting detached and as such, life keeps going on. Pounds is just the metaphor restaurant for a lot of other places I have been where I also feel more...
Read moreThere was a group of 10 of us that came into eat around 7 last night. After someone pushed a table together for us, the waitress came up and told us "next time you come in with a group of more than 6 people, call and tell us you are coming so we can be more prepared." We were pretty close to leaving after that comment. Being in the restaurant business, I would very much appreciate a group of 10 walking in and giving me business. After putting in our order, our group sat there with empty drinks. She never came back until after we were done eating. Then asked us how we wanted the tabs split up and didn’t ask if anyone else wanted another drink, we had to ask her. One of the people at our table didn't get his food until we brought it to the server’s attention (after everyone else was done eating and the table next to us that walked in after us got their food), another didn't get the side of fries she ordered(but they were still on her bill). Her reasoning for him not getting his food was because we were a group of 10 and the kitchen was unprepared. So, if we called 20 minutes ahead of time or we would have been 2 groups of 5 they would have been more prepared? Needless to say, they won't get our business anymore and don't ever bring a group of 6 or more without letting them know so they can be...
Read moreWhen Pounds was at its old location the building was cold, dark, and uncomfortable. The new location on Broadway and Main is very spacious and sunny because of the large windows with natural light. The location surprises me as I would think the area would get much less traffic, but they are still in business, so I guess they are doing fine.
I ordered an item from the Hippie menu. It was tasty, I imagine healthy, and different. There was corn with black beans, an avocado dollop of mushed up stuff but not guacamole, root vegetables, and rice that was somewhat spicy. It was good. I was on a healthy kick that day.
I also had some of the poutine which had pulled pork and gravy on it with cheese melted. The cheese was way too salty for me as well as the fries. The person I was with loved it.
The venue looks like they have bands there because there is so much space and the windows in front of the building look like they roll up so that the entire wall can be opened.
This place was nice. I would think such a large area would feel empty and cavernous but the decor made it seem cozy. There were blue tones with yellow and couches with coffee tables and chairs set up. It seems like a great place to talk and have...
