I'm not typically one to write a review, but my group had a horrible experience at Rhombus. Last night, a group of us went to the movie on the rooftop. I asked the hostess downstairs for a table for 5 and she said she would put two tables together.
Once she led me up to the rooftop, she asked if it would be okay if we just stick an extra chair at one table. I told her that would be fine and, honestly, thought that it would be helpful to them since they could seat another party in the open table. A few minutes later, one of the managers upstairs rudely asked if we actually requested a table for 5 or just put an extra chair at our table. We politely explained that we did, indeed, ask for 5 and the hostess set it up that way. He shook his head at us, saying, "Well. It just needs to have a clear walk way." He then proceeded to stare at us from the bar area enough that everyone in our party noticed and it made us uncomfortable, especially since we had been friendly and polite during our interaction with him. We told our waitress we hoped we didn't get her or someone else in trouble, and she said that her manager's face just always looks like that.
We arrived early enough to have some food and beer before the movie and our service was fine at that point. The food at Rhombus is always tasty and beer selection is fantastic. However, once the last person in our party arrived and got her beer our server did not come back to our table for over an hour. We had wanted to order more food and beverages, but she didn't come back to even check on us. We even went to the bar and asked for food menus, but still no check in. When she finally came back, the movie was just about over she offered tabs. When I asked for change using an amount far larger than my bill, she actually just kept the coins I should have recieved back without asking.
I love the food at Rhombus and we order it to Front Street regularly. That may be the only way I eat it here on out because I won't be back. Rhombus may have good food, but there are many restaurants downtown that have good food AND good service, and I would rather support...
Read more(Last visited September 18, 2022.) Hanging out in Fargo, ND for the weekend and we're hitting a nightclub this evening so it's important to set a good base for the turn-up! So we stopped into Rhombus Guys because the big "DETROIT-STYLE PIZZA" sign guided me right on it! Here's how things went...
Atmosphere/Appearance: Set right downtown on the main drag on Main Street is this gem. There's only street parking available, but there are plenty of lots and structures around to park your fly ride. Inside was fairly quiet since it was the calm before the storm. I bet this place gets crazy after the club lets out though. The restaurant was bright, open and charismatic. On the left side was the full bar, the right were booths and the back were tables. The walls are decorated with seemingly random nick-nacks, but it adds to the character.
Service: I can't remember who took care of us, but I can't recall having any issues.
Food: I don't want to say the food is forgettable, so I won't. It was just 2 years ago and I can't remember what I had, even though I have a pretty detailed picture. Lol. I just can't match it to anything on the menu now. The irony is, I didn't even get a Detroit-style pizza. I wound up with a small-round that had pretty thick crust, then I added sausage, peppers, ricotta and... a white sauce? Lol. No matter, I know i enjoyed it and I would like to come back to give this place another fair shot.
Value: This food here isn't cheap. I feel like my small pizza was like $13.00 or something, but better that then to be hurting later for not having a good base.
In conclusion, this place was pretty alright and like I said, I'd really like to give this place another shot. However, if you're looking for some good pizza in Fargo, definitely check...
Read moreIs Jacob my server or my Dad....I couldn't tell. He started out seemingly in a rush to take our drink order by asking if we wanted waters 2 or 3 times until we decided. Now, I dont get to dine out very often and when I do I order a pop my friend ordered a beer and then we began looking at food. There are so many options it took us a few minutes which he again seemed like he was in a rush and even asked if we would like water again after he already brought us our drinks. We decided on 2 styles of pizza half and half which to one choice he said "hopefully you can handle the spice" As we ate he asked my friend for another beer but didn't ask if i wanted a refill. He brought her a beer and a water. He swung by later and asked if we need boxes and i said yes eventually we will and asked for a refill on my pop. He said "well, you're leaving soon i can fill it half way." Meanwhile my friend had a nearly full beer left we weren't entirely ready to just box up and leave we each were still eating a slice on our plates. And I dont know if you have to pay for refills on pop but I gladly would have so i could have something to drink with my friend while she finishes her beer. He rationalize every decision we made out loud which was no need for. To be honest I probably wouldn't be leaving this review if he would have just refilled my pop. I dont drink pop at home and get it as a treat when I go out. Jacob Rhombus will Dad you so hard you never want...
