Our family has been coming to this restaurant Leo’s Coney Island for sometime. Now it’s mostly just me and my husband. We have been very satisfied with the food, the service, very friendly servers and love the food, especially the Fish & Chips dinner! That was one of our favorites! Well after having it last night (takeout) it sure isn’t anymore, if it is going to be made the way it was last night… August 1st…WOW we were sooo very surprised 😳 of the so called batter that covered the fish. We ordered a 3 piece fish dinner with Curly Fries! We received what we ordered, but it was NOT the same at all! Even the Cole Slaw was made different! As soon as we opened the cover to our dinner we both commented immediately on the fish!!! Huh? what? Geez it sure looks different! The shape of the pieces and especially the BATTER that coated the fish…it was pure “yuck”!!! I pushed the piece of fish right out of it, it just simply slid right out…and then there was this awful 😣 sauce of some sort under the batter, never ever experienced THAT! Ate the fish and discarded that awful batter! What in the heck happened to the delicious Fish that was served just the way we like it upon request…light coating and very crispy please…well this sure wasn’t that! We are hoping this will be the last time it will taste like that. We will try one more time…and how nice it will be if it’s NOT like that!!! 🙏🏻
Everything else we have had there has always been delicious 😋 Coney’s, Chili Cheese Fries (sooo good) soups, Pattie melts, omelettes, all yummm! Hopefully the Fish and Chips will be made again, the way they always have been. There was another time way back when this dinner was not quite up too par, I wrote a review, and it was all good again, and has been for a long time…until last...
Read moreSunday, June 26th my friend and I went to Leo's for lunch after church because it was bigger. First mistake... ALWAYS FOLLOW YOUR FIRST INSTINCTS! Our first choice the place was smaller although the ratings were very good. As we entered the empty booths or tables available had piles of dirty dishes, glasses and napkins on them. I'm glad I had my saniwipes with me. We ordered our food and prayed over it (thank God)! They got my friends order wrong so they had to redo it. As I was cutting my sandwich because it was big, I lifted it up to eat it but I saw what at first look like a thin piece of cheese. Mind you I didn't asked for cheese. As I looked closer I realized it was a piece of long blonde hair. My arm froze in midair as my friends mouth was hanging open also. I didn't see our waitress so I called over another one and let her see (arm still in midair) it. She knew it wasn't mine because my hair is black! NEVER DID A MANAGER COME TO OUR TABLE TO APOLOGIZE! My mistake was allowing them to make me another sandwich (did they really or give me the same sandwich minus the hair heated up?) I WILL NEVER EAT HERE AGAIN NOR WILL I RECOMMEND THIS PLACE TO A DOG! I thought about it all the way home and was mad at myself for that decision to stay, eat and pay for this type of service! I hope they enjoyed taking my money because that's it for me!. I kept hoping that I wouldn't become ill later on and I'm glad we didn't. Prayer works! AN EXPENSIVE AND...
Read moreLeo's Coney is a great place for anyone looking for good food with a traditional coney menu. The gyros were amazing, packed with all the right combo of ingredients that it was hard not to gobble 2 up. The coffee was also good; it was the perfect balance of smooth and strong, a great way to start the morning.
The building was clean, nicely decorated, and well-maintained, which added to the pleasant dining experience. Compared to others The temperature was just right, which made it comfortable to sit inside and enjoy the meal while chatting with friends or family.
Parking was not an issue at all as there were ample spaces available. However, the only downside was the older waitress did not offer a single coffee refill and doesn't look at you when speaking to you and doesn't talk loud enough to know if she's actually listening or who she's talking to so there's some room to improve in my opinion. Didnt jegatively impact the overall experience much at Leo's Coney though.
To sum it up, Leo's Coney is an excellent option for anyone looking for a good meal and a pleasant dining experience. The great taste of the gyros, the delicious coffee, the clean building, comfortable temperature, and ample parking make this place well...
