Beware: I ordered a chef salad for carryout after viewing their online menu (minus eggs). When I was asked to pay, I noticed the total was more than it was supposed to be, based on the website menu. I told the person cashing me out that they needed to update the menu prices on their website. He questioned what site I was referring to because Yelp has the wrong menu and their salad prices were increased a long time ago. I showed him the page on my phone and he acknowledged they were the incorrect prices and he would tell whoever does their website maintenance.
I got back to my office and opened my salad container. I was surprised to see that ALL, every single piece, of the turkey and ham were the end/skin pieces of the meat rolls(?)- photo attached. I called Dagwood's and told them what I received. I was told that's how they do their salads. They save the end/skin pieces when they're slicing up the meats and put them in the salads so they don't waste anything.
I'm saddened and disappointed in the quality of the salad and their apparent practices. I spent almost $14 on a salad that I ended up picking off all of the "meat" pieces because who wants to eat meat skin with fat and maybe a small morsel of actual meat? Not a...
Read moreWe, visitors, were looking for a local joint. Dagwood's cannot be any more local. They have over 30 different sandwiches to choose from and for those who are picky, they can create their own. Your brain might explode from all the choices, but don't let that happen, until you taste one of their signature sandwiches. Of all the deliciousness, we ordered a Pastrami Sandwich, the #20. It was much more than an ordinary deli Pastrami Sandwich. The warm, freshly sliced pastrami was sandwiched between two lightly grilled pumpernickel slices, smeared with chive cream cheese and topped with crisp romaine lettuce. As sandwiches always should, ours came with a pickle spear. Within walking distance, there was a Starbucks, Panera, Subway and Quizno's, but Dagwood had the real sandwich we were craving. The sandwich did not feel like a grease bomb like Panera's or Quizno's. Unlike its competition, Dagwood slices their meats fresh. Once you have a taste, there's no mistaken that they actually use the meats in their deli case. Those meats in the case are not only for show. You locals...
Read moreWe love downtown Farmington and Dagwoods has been an anchor lunch restaurant in the city for a long time. While a yummy, fresh deli sandwich can reliably be found at Dagwoods, the price is high (5 sandwiches and 4 bags of chips for $100) and the portions are larger than anyone should really eat.
Because of pricing and portion size, my husband and I have been avoiding Dagwoods, but now we will not be returning. With our $100 sandwich takeout, we were just charged an additional $2 because my sandwich had to be prepared with accommodations for a gluten allergy. Note that there is already a $2 up-charge for gluten-free bread. In my 15 years eating out with celiac disease all over the world, I have never been charged more because of any extra procedure done for my food preparation.
Thankfully, Farmington’s food scene is improving all the time. We enjoy La Pecora Nera, Taques, and Heights Brewing, that are all new within the past year. And we look forward to all the new food...
