Such a shame to write this review. The pictures and the concept seem like so much fun, and the food is really amazingly well cooked and prepared, but the whole experience ends up being just flat and boring.
No one greets you when you walk in. They don't really talk to you at all. They talk to each other behind the counter a lot, and they genuinely look like they're having fun. The young lady at the counter was friendly enough, I guess, but her volume is super low, and with the jet-engine-like noise from the HVAC hoods in the restaurant, you can't really hear her at all. I couldn't tell what she was saying, actually.
Tables aren't set at all. No salt, no pepper, no napkins - nothing. It just feels barren there. If you want cream and sugar for the coffee, you have to o ask for it. It wasn't offered. My kiddo was told that the soda machine didn't work, but apparently he tried it and it did.
We were given a number to take to our table, but no one called it, so we had to keep track of when our order was coming up. My son had the Nutella Waffle, and the whipped cream ended up being almost tasteless. When I make whipped cream, I put in a bit of sugar and vanilla, but they apparently don't do this here. It's not great. My food was so-so, and then it was great. The waffles are actually croissants, so what's not to love there? The Waffle Sammy I think has two eggs and bacon on it, so the only way that wouldn't be great is if you drenched it in a mayonnaise based sauce that overpowered everything else, so that's what they did. Once I scraped off the copious amounts of the sauce, I discovered that the eggs and bacon were perfect...as in really perfect. I needed salt and pepper, so I had to get up to go get that, too.
No one said anything to us on the way out, even though I intentionally made eye contact with one of the employees as we were walking out. I'm not sure how people don't think it's a good idea to greet and say thank you to people who come to their place of work and support them. I tipped when I paid, and then shortly thereafter I wasn't sure why.
This place is a literal tragedy of management. They have a great story, a good location there in Farmington, and as great as the food could be, there should be a line streaming out around the block. Some better music that you could hear over the HVAC bee's nest going on, set the tables with a basic setup - salt, pepper, creamer, sugar, etc., greet people when they walk in, thank them for their business as they depart, and a host of tiny tiny little things that actually cost nothing to implement would solve all of their issues - all of them. I don't even blame the young ladies working there - this is a failure of management. I answer the phone all day for my own business, and I always thank my customers for calling and thank them for...
Read moreThis is the second time I have been to this location and the second time I have been disappointed. First time I just wrote off as maybe they were just under staffed and having a bad day. So I thought I would give them another chance cause the food really wasn’t too bad. I won’t make that mistake again. Right from the time I walked through the door the staff barely acknowledged my existence. Though we were the only two people in line the staff We’re having a conversation amongst themselves behind the counter and apparently far too involved in that conversation conversation to acknowledge that we were waiting for Assistance. When they finally bothered to look over their shoulders, all we got was side eye as they went back to their conversation in annoyance with our presence. When they finally decided it was a good time for them to take our orders they didn’t exactly do that with a smile on their faces, nor did they bother to greet us or welcome us to their establishment. (Though I am Getting used to this with this younger generation) After placing our orders I sat back and watched as the staff prepared the two Identical meals, one at a time. As the first meal was completed after an exceptionally long amount of time, it was placed on top of the counter to sit there and get cold while the second meal. Was prepared the stove top fryer has more than ample enough space to prepare two eggs at the same time or two pieces of chicken at the same time So the two are completed at the same time and served at the same time. This seems to be a concept that escapes them. The eggs were severely overdone, and the waffles were overcooked. When you were asked to pre-pay for a meal and the point of purchase system asks you for a tip before you have received any service or before you have received your meal is truly appalling as I do not know the type of service or quality of food that I am tipping for.. And I refuse to tip for any food that I have to stand to order, stand up to retrieve and bus my own table. I will never return to this place. Which is unfortunate because the food has the potential to...
