Charlie's Pub — Restaurant in Fayetteville

Awful experience. Bartender was extremely rude, she harassed me over a perfectly legal out of state ID and said I was underage (Which i requested her to scan because I'm 28) and said that I looked like i was stupid.

Additionally, I've never been anywhere where the local patrons walked up, introduced themselves, and told me I wasn't welcome after me not doing or saying anything to them. From what they said, they were local raft guides and people from out of town weren't welcome. Notably, this is a bar open to the Public, not a private "members only" club.

Only positive thing was that the manager, was reasonable and polite.

That being said, I won't be recommending anyone go here. Maggie's pub just up the road was 100X friendlier and made me...

Great little pub. They had 2 pool tables and a pretty large bar, although the area around the bar is a little tight.

Ian (hope I spelled that right) was a great bartenders and his family has owned the bar for 35 years if I remember correctly. So that's pretty cool! 😎

Idk if it was a special occasion or not, but when we arrived there was a crock pot on the table in the corner. I believe what I ate was shrimp gumbo of the sort that Ian had made for the patrons, and man was that stuff good! It was spicy, but I'm a big fan of spicy, although I did limit the amount I ate as to not pay for it the next day, if you know what I mean 😏😉💩 my friend did not, and he paid dearly 😂🤷🏽‍♂️

Absolutely gotta swing by if you’re in the area and looking for a great bar with great people. The owner Ian and bartender Kate (who was gracious about my uh, let’s call it “slightly inebriated” friend calling her “Mary” about 20 times for some reason) were both awesome.

It’s my first time in Fayetteville, and my friends’ first time in general visiting West Virginia, and the vibes at Charlie’s are exactly what brought me back to the area.
