My first visit on yesterday, looking for some home cooked catfish, and very hungry I might add. I hoped that this would be a good experience for me since it is close to my home, sadly it was not. It bothered so bad I had to let everyone know and even the owner. I called first, no one answered but the voice mail came on, I left a message with my order, then I drove up there. Only 1 person in front of me, I waited about 5 minutes then asked the lady in front of me had she ordered, she said no. 10 minutes went by, so I'm thinking why haven't anyone asked for our order. The men behind the corner was cooking big orders and people were coming in to get their orders. It appeared the online orders were more important than the people that were here waiting in line to order. This was so unprofessional to me, they should have had someone to take orders from the people that walk in as well. If you don't have enough staff, hire more, the orders are coming in back to back. People will turn away from this establishment for that very reason. From the reviews that I've read several have already turned away and will never come back. A family of 5 came in and stood for 15 seconds and walked right back out the door, its too tight at the door waiting. I finally was able to order after 30 minutes waiting, now that's ridiculous. I shouldn't have to wait to order after all the online orders have been filled. Squeeze some waiters in from time to time, we are just as important as the online orders. After ordering it didn't take long for my food, I only wanted 2 pieces of fish with sides. The fish was ok but not that great after what I went thru. The Cole slaw was very old and smelly, which I threw away, hush puppies were good and the fries as well. I do know this is a new establishment, but the way that it is being ran is absurd and I may never come back or for a very long time. Maybe in a year or two you will have had time to correct several issues that's going on in this place...
Read moreIt pains me to write this review. However, I have to be honest. After spending $35, there's no way I can forego this and not disclose this. My meal was subpar to say the least. I wanted so much to have a memorable experience!
I will start on a positive note.
-KJ WAS PHENOMENAL!!!! Every business needs a KJ!!! He needs a raise, promotion and anything else that comes along with being an All star employee!! -Place wasn't packed on today "Cinco de Mayo!" -Broccoli was ok. (Too soft, but taste was ok) -Key Lime Cake was ok. -Lemonade was very good. I had the Mango flavor.
Now for the sad part! I was very disappointed in the food overall. -Fried Catfish was not only very small, but soggy and not seasoned. -Hush Puppies were a ball of fried dough. Not cooked thoroughly on the inside at all. -French Fries looked undercooked and just no. Brand needs to be changed. -Fried Shrimp were just ok. Not seasoned and not regular shrimp. They are medium sized and butterfly style in very hard crust. These are the shrimp that the Chinese restaurants sell. No taste unless dipped in a sauce.
The seating area is very small. That's fine. However, the place can use a fresh coat of paint. The floors could use a good mop and waxing. Along the baseboard and floors along the walls are very filthy. Doors leading to bathroom are filthy. Trash cans are out in the eating areas. Not sure what can be done, but overall not a good look. Perhaps round high boy tables instead of the rectangle tables would work. I'm not sure. Needless to say, because of KJ I wanted this experience to be just as phenomenal as he was! It wasn't. If it weren't for KJs efforts and customer care, I would have asked for a refund. First and last time here. I really wanted to love this place! I'm very disappointed as a...
Read moreFirst time here. It was a long wait....arrived round 4:50 and waited for 20-25 mins. I will assume it was because of take out orders. They were very pleasant-greeted by the cook and the cashier which is nice. They were out of bottled waters, so we opted for the in house juices which were very sweet, but that's okay. As for the food- I have never seen fish that thin. Basically it was a regular piece cut in half and the consequence of that is overcooking. You can see in the photo the edges were curled and very rubbery and I did not care for the heavy seasoning in the batter. He got the 4 piece and I got the 2 piece Catfish dinner. Oddly enough, the end of the pieces had very little fish and were actually pretty good if you care for chips! Fries were just okay, the hush puppies had good flavor but were cold. I highly dislike this trend of a serving of coleslaw in a condiment cup. You need the coleslaw to balance flavors and cleanse your palate when eating a fried meal. I mean, it's cabbage basically, what am I missing? At any rate, my brain is still trying to process exactly what citrus flavor was in it.
I hope this place makes it because the area could use a good fish place. Keep in mind it is quite small so if you plan to dine-in you may have trouble getting a seat at peak times. They do have a really cute outdoor seating area with a few tables. Our total came to $35 with small $2 tip. Hopefully this was just an off day. Will...
